Aaaaand I'm Bleeding. · 3:35am May 29th, 2017
Jesus Christ this mouth thing is the worst I've ever had.
Look. A few weeks ago, I woke up with a really random pain in my mouth. I figured it was just another canker sore - y'know, those annoying blotches of pale skin that make eating an adventure - and sure, it shocked me when I saw how big it was. But at the time, it was nothing to worry about. I've dealt with over a hundred such sores and I knew the process for curing them: salt (with or without water), no soda, spoon-able food, pawn to king four.
Turns out this is worse than all of that. Not only was the supposed sore much larger than any other I've had, but it actually tore the inside of my mouth. And I mean tore, like a cut on the skin with bits flapping around. Hell, I even ran the real risk of accidentally chewing on the injured parts in my sleep! Sometimes I did. Those mornings were the worst, waking up with a swollen cheek and in so much pain that I needed medicine before breakfast.
Now, about a month later, I'm almost certain that it's an impacted wisdom tooth. It might even be two. I mean, I can't chew on the right side of my mouth, I sometimes swell up around my cheek, and I can't open my mouth all the way because there's something there. But here's the absolute worst: I have a reflex where my mouth will open wide all on its own, usually in an attempt to stretch out my jaw and relieve pressure. It also occurs when I bite on my tongue or a part of my cheek, or when I eat food that is still too hot. That reflex is something I can't control, and tonight I learned that it can actually make me bleed.
Yep. My reflexive habit to relieve pressure is now the source of dread. It happened not too long ago, and the pain was blinding. It brought me to my knees, and I had to force myself back up and to a sink to find out that I was spitting out blood.
Needless to say, I've spent the last hour looking for a dental office. This is no longer something I can just wait out. Pfft, it never was in the first place. I've had wisdom tooth pain in the past, but never this bad...and never involving blood for God's sake! I'm not really the kind of guy who takes care of his teeth, but I'll never be the one who allows his teeth to bring him to his knees.
In the meantime, I'll need to try and suppress my reflex to stretch my jaw, and I might need to carry some cotton balls around to soak up the nasty stuff. At the very least, I don't seem to bleed for long.
In related news, has anyone had experience with this kind of thing? More specifically, can anyone share what they paid and how their recovery process was?

Yeah, get to a dentist. I learned the hard way that taking care of your teeth is important. I had an abscess tooth in one of my front teeth and it got excruciating. Like, sleep deprivation excruciating.
