A Couple More Short Stories · 12:21am May 28th, 2017

I just published two new-to-FiMFiction stories to my minific collection, Bantam Tales: one's a Carrot Top screenshot joke, and the other is a dark take on ancient Greek beliefs about the afterlife. So, something for everyone, probably.

The former, It's Either That in the Cart, or a Slightly-Used Crocodile, was originally a little drabble that I cooked up in the comments section of my blog while another commenter and I riffed on our favorite background ponies. Unlike most of the screencap-drabbles that I inflict upon share with my review-readers, it ended up being a coherent conversation/scene, so I cleaned it up a little and decided to let it join my story collection. There's not a lot else to say; it's just a hopefully-amusing bit of Carrot Horse goodness.

The latter, To Be Forgotten, was my entry into the most recent writeoff. The story started out at about 1200 words in my first draft, and had to be cut down to 750 for the event. I got it down to about 900 without too much trouble (one thing I like about writeoffs: they've shown me that my stories are almost always better when I really take a scalpel to them), but getting it all the way down to the word limit was tough. But now, it's back to about 900 words, which I think is the right length for what I was trying to do, and hopefully a couple of things that weren't perfectly clear in the writeoff version will read a little more clearly now, without sacrificing the conversation structure.

So... that's it. Now go read my stories!
