Warning: spoilers

Daybreaker: Ugh. So much black. We get it. You're sad.

And she says this to Nightmare Moon… burn.

Finally, an episode featuring the sisters in a main role! While my expectations leaned towards a more comedic episode, I never thought they would ever put in this much heart.
Seeing the sisters do the other’s job is quite entertaining yet intriguing. I do find it rather unorthodox that Starlight’s spell was integral for the sisters to learn how the other feels. Showing that neither’s job is easy.
As polarizing a character as Starlight, I don’t think this episode could work with a member of the mane six (i.e. Twilight) being the center because of their bias towards Celestia. Starlight, however, is unbiased. But she is rather blunt (like how she was in Rock Solid Friendship), and did make a hasty decision by using magic to try and solve a conflict… again. Unlike the other times though, as mentioned above, her decision actually helped the sisters understand one another. Odd, but okay!
And then there’s Daybreaker. An evil representation of Celestia, fueled by pride and hunger for POWER!!! And is the very thing the Princess is afraid of becoming. She was equal parts terrifying, malicious, and hammy. She’s like if Celestia obtained the personality of Aku!
Twilight, however, was probably the weakest part of the episode. While she did provide some comedy in her reactions, she did little to influence the story.
Aside from that, this is one the best episodes of this season! I love this episode!
9/10 Great
