Possible concept for "A Zebrica for a Human" (Please read this) · 4:19pm May 17th, 2017
Hello to you all. I just want to ask you all about an idea I have for this story and what all of your thoughts regarding it.
How do you feel about the idea of Starlight Glimmer making an appearance as one of the main casts of this story in the future?
The idea here is that Alexander obviously will need some inside knowledge about Equestria in general, what there culture is what there ethics are etc...So obviously having a pony originally from Equestria on your side is obvious going to be useful in that regard.
Now you are all most likely wondering how does this work? How does Starlight ever end up in a different continent and just way would she betray her home country like that?
Well, I already have a vague idea on what her story is, how she eventually ends up in the deserts of Zebrica, how she offers herself and wins the trust of Alexander and so on.
BUT, if you all like this idea and maybe have concept and plans for yourself in how this premise can work and just how Starlight can end up in Zebrica and meet the Monkey King in general then please feel free to pitch your own ideas in the comments below.
Creative ideas for this can really help would also be highly interesting on what you guys can come up with.
Thank you all for reading this and giving your feedback on this concept.
This brings up a good question, when exactly does this story take place in the show's timeline?
I would vote for starburst as a character rather than starlight, this could allow conflict if starlight is following the original line and allow you a better character to work with, he is known to be even more knowledgeable than twilight and starlight and is known to seek knowledge and hasn't seen a whole lot of character development, as such it allows you to wright more about him to fit the story
Also as a side note starburst is male, would give some more character diversity.
But that's my idea, I can see potential using it but it depends heavily on how you're planning the story.
Before I answer, I had one question Starlight will be a romantic interest for Alex or anyone in general or only as a friends to the monkey king and his friends?
If Starlight Glimmer was there on orders as a diplomat/spy it could make sense. Her official purpous being there to offer the new king a hoof in friendship (Being a former student of Twilight padding her resume.) but covertly trying to determine if there is any growing threat towards Equestria and its neighbors.

…Unless this is BEFORE the time paradox and she is only there seeking allies to take down Twilight

Starlight has always been a do it yourselfer, She was way too busy obsessively observing Twilight to bother with a trip across the ocean. Plus Starlight's main problem pre-timetravel, was she couldn't find value in trusting others or letting them close to her because of her Sunburst issues.

EXACTLY, she is using Alex, just like she trick all those ponies in the village to give up their cutie marks, she almost a sociopath so seeking magic in exotic places could be plan A…or you know she could be just playing low while the chase after her dial down a bit
It depends on when in the time line the story takes place and how much you want to stick with the show.
When you create a story like this it enables you to do what you want but when you throw a major character from the show into the story you then have to decide when in the show's time line does this happen and weather or not you decide to stick with the show's time line from that point or create a new time line where none of the events from the show from that point on happen or if they do happen then how they change. This would generally make writing the story much harder and more constricting.
Unfortunately I don't know enough about season 6 or 7 to know what Starlight Glimmer's character is like but I would not do that unless you intend to not have season 7 happen to make it work.
Hmmmm, any sort of pony likely may have to come through Saddle Arabia perhaps if they were to end up in the continent this could be taking place in. Since it's been suggested Equestria has at least a Trade route there, likely also one of the reasons for raised tensions since his country will be edging boarders, but depending on the pony weather seen in show or fan made by author or not, will somehow paint Equestria in a if done right. 'Tinted' but truthful representation of their home, but that's dependent of their view or circumstances on leaving.
If the pony in question was 'Exiled', they would be bitter/resentful.
If the pony in question was on 'vacation', they would be looking for new things or experiences.
If the pony in question was sent as a 'spy', they would try to be trying to change perspectives or gain his trust etc.
It depends on the character's situation and personality.
Also it would be cool if a old school character popped up or referenced because of regions or history.
I think Sunset Shimmer would be a more interesting choice.

Like I said, show's timeline has her in Equestria the entire time spying on Twilight, even getting spotted in episodes by observant fans. As for laying low, being seen standing next to a king who is most likely the hottest topic across the globe is dangerously stupid. Something she is not. Logically it just doesn't work... Im going to stop now because Navanastra hates when his threads turn into pointless arguments that could be better discussed in Private Messages.
4536292
Agree and you are right, for all that matter it will make sense she is there after the time travel incident

I was mainly making ties to the established plot of the fic to explain why Starlight would be there. Celestia and Luna see the sudden growth of the country as unhelthy for how fast a country can grow without tearing itself apart. (This is how many empires end, they grow too large that they can't financially support themselves and their people and then collapse when the unhappy denizens take out their frustrations by mercilessly ending government officials.) Visiting and then leaving behind an agent who is "only here to help" would be a decent stratagy in keeping an eye out for future problems for Equestria.
Well if ya got an idea already, i say go for it. It's your story, your decision
I'm not of a Starlight fan, but I wouldn't mind it. And she'd probably make for a good spy like 4536196 has said.
I like mist clearers idea of her being there as a diplomat or spy. Though I am neutral on her showing up pre time travel though. The way I see how you could make it work is that by the time season six comes around he's famous enough that after starlight gets deafeted by twilight and co. She seeks out our dear friend Alex to try and convince him to turn his attentions to equestria to invade and use him as her means of taking down twilight.
I'd be fine with or without it.

4536838 Using Alexander? I beg to differ. Alexander is WHY to much of an erratic character to be controlled by anyone. Plus its also already shown that he is far from being an idiot. Plus he knows exactly how cartoon villains work :P
4536937
Toon cartoon villains or anime cartoon villains because those are way dangerous to deal with
4536139 Hmmm, that is a good idea. Using Starburst instead of Starlight, it could really stage up a future conflict between these two when relationships between Equestria and PERSIA go soar somehow.
But one problem though. How would Starbust end up in Zebrica and even more surreal side with the Monkey King? Wasn't the whole story about Sunburst that he was talented in an early age which eventually got him into Celly face school of gifted? Why would he want to throw all of that away for a King who is the physical embodiment (and fan) of Sheogorath?
Starlight would a but more sense in that regard given her character before twilight used her friendship cult on her. She could have run away after twilight defeated her for the first time and somehow eventually end up all the way on a different continent. How she then meets with out lovely tailless Monkey for a king is still for debate, but I guess she can used this new quickly rising nation and growing rival of Equestria a place to lay low and use its knowledge to eventually plan a revenge plan for Twilight.
4536946 Can you elaborate more?
4536950
Western cartoon villains are, direct they down right tell you their evil plans and have exaggerating machines or minions to do their job, those are the moustache twirling guys that always laugh and attack directly.
Oriental cartoon villains…or anime villains, often times play the long game, they are patient, and smart…those are the ones to be more careful because they can either make you believed that their are your friends before stabbing you…or make you fall into their traps, and those are dificult to get free traps.
4536949 best thing o had for that is that he was said to look for knowledge.
Give me some time to think and I'll get.
4537042 I love the Elder Scrolls :P
I mean, just recently in the show there was discussion of sending Starlight away to another place similar to how Twilight was sent to ponyville, you could probably combine that and a few other elements mentioned here, like the spy stuff and have enough material to work with
4537212 I don't watch the show, so I wouldn't know.
Besides, its more fun to just make you own story instead of always having to relay on cannon.
4537193
Oh then he will be fine
4537275 yeah, those daedra are no joke...far from it...not even in the same universe.
4537277
Wow…I need to play that game, those guys really sound incredible dangerous
4537286 In the lore they do. But wait...you never played an Elder Scrolls game?
Where do you live? On Mars?
4537298
No, but I often times people tell me that I'm a bit…what is the world?…Naive! there you go, that I'm a bit naive of the world around me.
Anyway thanks for the advice I will see if I play the game at some point
4537303 Pick morrowind, oblivion or skyrim. The first elder scrolls game I played was oblivion like most peoples, but skyrim is the most famous one for obvious reasons.
