    Check In

    Afternoon/evening folks!

Sorry I haven't been checking in as often as I should; rest assured I'm not dead, I'm still here, just been silent as of late. Still working on fics, but also constantly debating with myself on what to focus on next, wanted to make some new stuff that isn't just Shattered or Star Wars. Wanna bring more folks in, do somethin' new.

    Top Ten Films/Series Of 2023/Reflections

First off, Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

Hard to believe another year has passed, hasn't it? *sighs* how time has flown by. A lot's happened this year; more stories, more creativity and entertainment has come, and I've learned more about myself, and I am very glad for that.

Lights Out Review · 3:10pm May 13th, 2017

Its never fun to be in the dark. Why? Because maybe when you're a kid its really scary to be in the dark because you're afraid of zombies, monsters, demons, or whatever else could possibly be wandering around in the shadows. But in this film, they heighten this up a notch by making being in the dark, really freaking scary with a good story and characters to back it up too. And this was all based off of one short film. A really fantastic short film by the way.

And by the heavens above, we're going to review this masterpiece of a film. This morning, I give you all the review of a new fantastic horror edition... Lights Out. Why? Well I was gonna tackle Descendants but I'm afraid of pissing off some Disney fans in the audience, so there's no point in that. It doesn't change that I thought the film sucked, but lets move on.

This is... Lights Out! And hopefully later today, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2!

So the basic premise is that, there is a demon, that wanders around in the dark and will attack you if you and her are in the darkness. But if you've got lights on, you're perfectly safe as this demonic hellspawn hates the light. And now this demon has carried over to a broken family, planning on hunting them all down, and now its up to the older daughter, her little brother, and her boyfriend to try and handle this demonic spirit and find a way to flush her out from the darkness for good...

Now let me talk about the positives first, I've got a lot of positives.

First of all, the atmosphere with the scenes in the dark are handled very well, its very spooky to look at and it sent chills down my spine.

Secondly, it is actually legitimately scary at times. Almost every scene with that demon, sorry, Diana, makes me shiver in fear and I keep questioning her motives whenever she appears. Is she gonna make the strike, is she just gonna stand there and observe you with little to no expression? Yikes. :twilightoops:

And I have to say, I love the relationship the older sister has with the younger brother. It reminds me a lot of me and my sis because we share a good bond with one another, and these two remind me of me and my sis in that same light. So thumbs up to them on that.

And as for my problems... I'll admit, I don't have a lot of problems, but there is this one thing. You know that cliche where the characters sometimes act like idiots? Well there isn't a lot of that that I've seen, but there have been times where I just facepalm in annoyance. For gods sakes...

For instance, in the beginning with the opening kill person, (yes we still have this cliche) but this just drives me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, I know when you panic you don't think, its gonna happen when you panic, your brain doesn't think. But for heaven's sakes, if you saw a demon standing at an end of a hallway ready to chase you, you run the hell out of whatever you're in. I know going outside will be bad since there's just gonna be more darkness, but for god's sakes, there are still some outside lights on and there are streetlamps, and possibly people out there that can help you. I say take whatever help you can get.

But... that's all I got. Sure there's a few nitpicks here and there, but this is a really good horror movie. That is if you're probably 14 or 13 and above and can handle such frightening images. But if you can and are over that age, I highly recommend this movie. Its worth the view.

I give this movie, an 8 out of 10. Go see it, its worth the watch. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got work to do, and I'm gonna go see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 later today with my big sis. Have a wonderful morning everybody!
