[PokéReviews] Absol · 5:47pm May 6th, 2017

Class: Disaster Pokemon
Type: Dark
HP: 65
ATK: 130
DEF: 60
SpA: 75
SpD: 60
SPE: 75
Ability: Pressure, Super Luck, Justified (Hidden), Magic Bounce (Mega)

Appearance:
Absol is a beautiful canine creature with snowy white fur, sharp claws and a crescent horn on the side of its head. It is quite possibly one of the coolest-looking Pokemon I have ever seen with its elegant pose and posture, sleek body and glowing red eyes. And it becomes even more beautiful with its Mega Evolution where it grows even more fur, its horn elongates, its posture is much more majestic and for whatever reason it grows a pair of wings. I'm not complaining though, those wings look dope as fuck.

Battle Information:
Single Player
If you're playing about mid to late-game of pretty much most Pokemon games at this point (early-game if you're playing X & Y) and you're still looking for a Dark-type to add to your team, Absol is without a doubt one of your best choices. Absol embodies literally everything that defines what a Dark-type Pokemon is, what with high attack, tricky abilities and interesting moves to toy with opponents. However, when I mean literally I do mean literally as Absol also embodies each and every single weakness that comes with being a Dark-type, including low defenses and not a lot of resistances.

At surprisingly low levels, Absol can learn Swords Dance leveling up which can double its already impressive 130 attack stat. Furthermore, Absol has the ability to Mega Evolve and become stronger, though chances are you won't be able to get its Mega Evolution until late or even post-game. This is still a good reason to get Absol however! One downside of its Mega Evolution is that it's defenses do not rise at all, favoring to increase attack, special attack and speed. So long as you don't use Absol to tank attacks, you'll be fine.

Competitive
Absol was one of the best physical sweepers in the meta game until Weavile showed its face around town. That fact alone should make you consider putting it on your competitive team. Its high attack and wonderfully sneaky moves make it versatile in almost any situation. Emphasis on almost as the fact still stands that its defenses are garbage, so taking hits can and will be a serious problem for it. And because Eviolite doesn't work for Pokemon that can't evolve, even Mega Evolution Pokemon, there's not much you can do about that little defense problem.

I can suggest one very good way to put Absol to use if you're still intent on using it competitively. Absol has access to three abilities, two of which are generic and situational. But one of them, Super Luck, is the ability you want. Combining Super Luck, which increases Absol's critical hit ratio by one, with STAB Night Slash, which has a high critical hit ratio, and the Scope Lens, which increases a Pokemon's critical hit ratio alongside other modifiers, and you have an almost unstoppable critical hit dealing machine! I would take the time to train up Absol's nearly slow speed for this to work, however. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helped you out! If you have a suggestion for a Pokemon I can review next for your competitive or single player use, feel free to comment down below and I'll look into it.

4522507 Is it bad that my Absol is usually called Fluttershy because of its Mega-Evolution?

Nope, name it whatever you want. We don't judge here in SuperKamek land.

I named my Ditto "Sex Slave".

4522567 :facehoof::rainbowlaugh: Sounds about right.
