[PokéReviews] Oricorio · 11:00pm May 4th, 2017

Class: Dancing Pokemon
Type: Fire/Flying (Baile), Electric/Flying (Pom-Pom), Psychic/Flying (Pa'u), Ghost/Flying (Sensu)
HP: 75
ATK: 70
DEF: 70
SpA: 97
SpD: 70
SPE: 93
Ability: Dancer

Appearance:
Oricorio has several appearances, three of which I think are really good designs. Baile Style, the style you see above, is a great representation of a flamingo dancer with long sleeves and earrings and even has the little spin dance in its animation. Pom-Pom Style is simply cute with its bright yellow colors and energetic animations. Sensu Style is very mysterious and serious with calm with truly graceful animations. Then we have Pa'u Style which just looks... alright. Not a huge fan of its tiny wing feathers and feather crown/skirt, but whatever floats your boat I suppose.

Battle Information:
Single Player:
Wow, a Pokemon that can change it's type depending on what kind of nectar I give it? Who needs a full team of Pokemon when you have five types right here? Easy answer: everyone. Absolutely under no circumstances use Oricorio if you want a proper Fire, Electric, Psychic or Ghost-type Pokemon on your team. That typing is only there for defensive purposes, in which case I actually recommend Electric over the others because fewer weaknesses means happier people.

Oricorio, both in level up and TM, learns a grand total of ZERO Fire, Electric, Psychic and Ghost-type moves during its life save for one technical Normal-type move that changes type depending on what form Oricorio is in at the time, Revelation Dance. Anyone with half a brain would be fine with this if Oricorio learned the move at a low level like 21 or something. NOPE! It learns its signature move at LEVEL 40. By that point you more than likely already have a better Electric-type Pokemon like Raichu, Vikavolt, hell even Golem! I do not recommend using Oricorio if you want a Pokemon that's a little more than a Flying-type Pokemon.

Competitive:
Like I mentioned before, Oricorio's typing is mainly defensive. It's unfortunate that Oricorio doesn't really have that much defense to begin with. 70 defense and special defense won't get you very far in the competitive scene and it's actually more common for Oricorio to immediately faint when switched in. Even its ability, Dancer, doesn't help much with its stats as most dance-based moves either don't help Oricorio's special attack stat or flat-out is useless.

Unless a Pokemon uses Quiver Dance, and here's where Oricorio can shine if you truly intend to use it. The 7th generation LOVES its double battles (just look at Passimian and Oranguru), so using a Pokemon that knows Quiver Dance alongside Oricorio can yield delightful results. Furthermore, Oricorio has access to Baton Pass which can make use of Quiver Dance to other Pokemon on your team. And if you're some kind of strange trainer, for some reason or another Oricorio has access to Sandstorm and U-turn. Make use of this information as you will. And finally, Oricorio can use Agility, Calm Mind and Tailwind. Again, make use of this information as you will.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helped you out! If you have a suggestion for a Pokemon I can review next for your competitive or single player use, feel free to comment down below and I'll look into it.

Alright, a few suggestions. How about Typhlosion, Glaceon, Absol, and ya gotta do the one who started it all: Pikachu!

All of which I'm happy to do. Thanks for the suggestions!
