Is It Just Me... · 9:58am May 2nd, 2017

...Or was Pinkie at her absolute worst this episode?

I've found her tolerable for six years, and I believe this is the very first time my mentality was "Can you just go the fuck away?" towards a Mane 6 character.

Yeah, I think they went overboard with Pinkie. It's like she took 100 cups of coffee like in Futurama.

It's not just you. If I could I would've reached through the screen and smacked her for how she was acting. I get that she's desperate to not only have Maud close by, but also have her safe since Ghastly Gorge is such a dangerous place. I can see where she's coming from so I'll cut her a little slack, but even I can't cut her that much slack.

Well, some people who don't like Pinkie Pie in general think she's always been that annoying, or at least post-season 1. And unfortunately, her behavior in Season 4's Filli Vanilli kind of helps their case. Personally, I thought she was worse in this episode, and halfway through I wondered if she had forgotten what she'd learned from Cranky Doodle Donkey in A Friend in Deed.

But at the same time, I couldn't help but think that it was intentional. Like maybe the writers made her extra annoying to both drive the episode's plot and make the episode's friendship lesson necessary. It kind of feels that way with some of the latest seasons' episodes, where the writers will exaggerate one character trait in the Main 6 just to fit the aesop.

She was kinda annoying, but it was also believable in this situation.

Yeah, she was annoying and her whole purpose on the show these days is to be as annoying as possible. For the first time, I am hoping she gets replaced by an OC, like Twilight is being replaced by Starlight.

I found her rather insufferable in this episode, you would think she would of known better than to try to push two people to be friends like that.

You weren't the only one who wasn't thrilled with Pinkie's behavior in this episode. But that being said, she's had far worse potrayals, such as "Luna Eclipsed" and "Filli Vanilli". "Filli Vanilli" was especially bad, the fandom went ballistic over Pinkie's performance there.

Pinkie is my favorite character and even I was thinking that.

That's kinda how I felt about Ponk's behaviour during "Filli Vanilli" and, to a lesser extent, "Luna Eclipsed". But honestly, I felt that way just as often about Twilight, especially in "Castle Mane-ia" and "Rainbow Falls" where she was at her preachiest (of course, "Rainbow Falls" was a trainwreck of the highest order in every other possible way too), and "Trade Ya", where she was Lawful Stupid; Ponk wasn't great in that episode either.

4517261 In Luna Eclipsed there was a payoff that made her actions reasonable in retrospect, and in Filli Vanilli she was just fine and people were overreacting.

Plus, they were both 'stop making it worse' and not this episode's 'OH MY GOD SHUT UP YOU ARE SO ANNOYING' while also making it worse. :fluttershyouch:

4517399 Yeah, I don't much like preachy Twilight, especially if she's guilty of what she's lecturing others on. Hypocrisy is seldom funny, especially in real life. And I really disagree with her message in "Rainbow Falls" about how choosing not to choose isn't making a decision. Yes, sometimes it's taking the easy way out. But other times, it's deciding that rather than choose between two bad options, you're simply not going to pick either one. Kind of like in the most recent presidential election, where rather than vote for one of two very bad options, you could choose to opt out and vote third party or write in a candidate of your choosing.

It is not just you. I feel the same way. It was enjoyable to watch Starlight and Maud becoming friends, but every time Pinkie shows up I feel annoyed.

A Friend in Deed was the only ep I "Noped " off of
I liked Pinkie fairly well before that not after

You think offering honest criticism is hating? I think you belong over on DeviantArt.

I'm sorry, but who the fuck are you? And why are you acting like such a whiny little bitch?

Now let's get one thing straight. No one in this thread is necessarily a Pinkie hater. In fact, I like Pinkie Pie. She's my third favorite Main 6 pony, but that doesn't mean I can't acknowledge when her character flaws detract from her as a character, and it's no reason for you to throw a fucking hissy fit across this blog post and everyone's user pages.

I think that saying that they poorly treated her character as some kind of over-obsessive and derange charlatan of the pink peppy party pony that we all know and love isn't bashing on the character herself, it's more a complaint on how the writers of the episode thought so little of her character that they didn't bother to try and see if she already learned that this kind of sh!t she's doing isn't right *Cough, Cranky Doodle Donkey, Cough*.

Also Pinkie is best pone.

Apologies. My attempts to remain civil weren't useful; they obviously continued to be an asshat and have been removed and blocked.
