So last night, a brony social media page linked a website that had a user-voted list of Most Annoying TV and Film Characters, pointing out that Diamond Tiara had managed to nab #55. Seeing that Twilight's Bella inched the win passed Star Wars' Jar Jar Binks at #2, I curiously began scrolling down the list. I was quite surprised at the first Sonic character to pop up. Any guesses?
It would be Charmy Bee at #87.
My continued scrolling would reveal that the rules of submission were not followed, because Omochao, at #142, never appeared in a Sonic film or TV series.
I gave up looking for more obvious choices at #350.
But it got me thinking; if such a list was limited to just the cast of the Sonic franchise, who would take the burden of most annoying?
I don't think I could determine a clear winner out of the obvious four: Big, Chris, Elise, and Omochao.
What about you? What Sonic characters can you not stand, and why?
Oh, Omochao. Most definitely Omochao. Every friggin' level in SA2:B he was there for you to pass and say, "I know, I know, shut up!"
He was basically the Navi of the Sonic franchise.

Tough call, aside from the obvious choices there's also Stickz from the Boom games and cartoon. She's insanely annoying, and I don't think they've dropped any hints as to who she is or why she's with the Sonic Crew. You can't even play as her in the game, so what's her reason for exisiting?
4493602 I have not played all of them, but Sticks is playable in Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice for the 3DS.
And actually, she's skyrocketed up towards the top area of my favorites. Yes, she's nuts. She's like the Pinkie Pie of Sonic Boom.

Sticks is playable in both 3DS games. And we don't talk about the Wii U one. Basically, imagine the boomerang from the handheld Zelda games, and that's Sticks gameplay in a nutshell.
And as far as the show is concerned, she's not that bad. Sonic Boom derives most of its humor from 'lol, stupid random', so Sticks' crazed antics fit right in.

In fact, the only reason Omochao is not on this list is probably because it's just TV/Film characters, so game-exclusive ones don't count. Otherwise, I'd have asked for a link to the list to see where Claptrap ranks.
4493627 That's my point; if we're talking strictly TV and film, Charmy, whose only appearance was Sonic X, didn't have NEARLY enough screentime to be annoying. Especially when you consider some of the more despised characters, such as Chris and Big. And I say that as someone who enjoyed Chris in the dub, and found him even more tolerable in the sub.

4493669 Well, if there's one good thing about the Boom series, it's that they FINALLY dropped Amy's annoying stalker crush on Sonic and showed that she can be a good character without that trait. Prior to that, I could easily see why Sonic was always quick to run away from her, especially when she kept getting kidnapped or threatened.
Omochao. I guess followed by Chris from Sonic X. Or any character from AoSTH beyond the primary trio. For some reason, I can't hate Big The Cat too much; once I got used to how to exploit the fishing mechanic, I was fine with it.
Elise is a bad character as-is, but I can't hate her too much because (1) Lacey Chabert, and (2) it's actually not terribly difficult to re-envision her character in a way that fixes many of her flaws. Switch her design aesthetic to what the artists did in Unleashed and that fixes the uncanny valley complaints as well.
4494172 Finally. I was wondering when Chris would get a vote in here (and I say that as kind of a Chris supporter). Posted this same topic over on the Sonic subreddit, and Chris has the most votes by far.
Which really makes me wonder: If I had to, could I "make the case" so to speak, for Chris as a character? Because even as a fan, most of his detractors have good points for their dislike of him.
