State of the Scribe: April 2024

You know what they say about the best laid plans? I'll be real brief with this update, for reasons that will be self-evident.

State of the Scribe: February 2024

Another month, albeit the shortest of the year. I still haven't had a chance to get into the process side of my writing and write that detailed plan for the year, been too busy writing a novel. Guess that's a good problem to have.

State of the Scribe: January 2024

This is exactly the 71st month I've posted a patreon calendar. Almost but not quite six years of writing fanfic, sharing all these ideas with you that would otherwise stay trapped in my head. I couldn't begin this post, and the beginning of a new year without expressing my profound thanks to everyone who keeps supporting me. Your help, big or small, is the only reason I'm still able to write

New Story: The First Willowbrook Christmas!

Hey pones! A Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Last year I wrote a short story for the holiday, but the editing pushed it back for a little while. For those who enjoyed Sisters of Willowbrook, I have a story for you to check out! The final chapter will get posted tomorrow:

First thing's first, check out this awesome picture Zutcha did of James! Now maybe people won't think that she's a clone of Lightning Dust. I put it into the story too, but that won't stop any past misunderstandings from having been made.

Holy crap, what a week. I don't think I've ever seen a story get so much attention, paticularly one that had just started. I thought it would be some pet project nobody read, I'd update it once a month, play with my ideas for a hard-science first contact scenerio. Things... didn't quite go that way. I'm gald I won't have to wait that long for an ending, either. Once a week is much more fun.

I just wanted to say thanks, thanks for giving the story a chance. I've since gone from vague ideas about it to a fully outlined story and notes about the technology and magic that grow more detailed every day. It might take awhile to tell the whole story with as wide as I made the scope, but I promise to make it an entertaining ride.

Sounds good!

Silly author. Of course we want to read the things you write. Your only flaw is all that time you waste on 'socializing' and 'sleeping'.

4490238 I think starscribe is also doing that thing called "eating", something that clearly should stop!

Oh wow -- she's adorable!

If there was anything we wouldn't want to read, it would be a blog post about you leaving!

And my goodness, what an OC. So cute, so awesome!

We did guys! We forced an update schedule change!

Dreams really do come true...:fluttercry:

I'm by default always hunting for Lightning Dust fics, so I'm always happy to see anything including her in any notable capacity - but the fic has a brilliant charm all of its own that hooked me right in. It's awesome you're enjoying working on it too Star, because I know I've sure as hell enjoyed reading it so far :raritystarry:

I blame the cover art. My first guess based on the description alone was that the main character either was Lightning Dust the whole time or somehow supernaturally possessed Lightning Dust.

Are you at all familiar with Soma? The concept (what happened to James) reminds me a lot of that game.

If only there was a clone of Starscribe. Then they could still do those things. Maybe. :derpytongue2:

Edit: I realized that I wasnt following Star. That must change! Their name even compels me too. :rainbowlaugh:

It looks like...

She is in latex.. :rainbowderp:

She's wet and shiny coming out of the pod that grew her.

wonder when she'll use her wings

Believe me, by this point I have been thoroughly disabused of the notion that James is a mini Lightning Dust.

She's clearly Flash Sentry's long-lost little sister. :trollestia:

But seriously, your sci-fi stuff always satisfies. Between this and Season 7, I'm going to have a lot to look forward to on Saturdays.

Aaaaaugh! The adorableness, it burns!

The gender switching should be an interesting sideline. I do have a question, though: why do your protagonists end up de-aged?

Hell yeah! Starscribe should be proud, 97% of the stories on this site would get at least 3 over par in golf, but Starscribe fucking levitates the ball into the hole.
