Gaining a bad cutie mark is very possible and scary to think about. In season 5 there are a few examples of this Bloom in Gloom and Appoloosas' most wanted.

Applebloom dreamed of multiple bad cutie mark and how it affects her life, this wasn't what she had in mind if she said she wanted a cutie mark so bad. To Troubleshoes, he got stuck to a "bad luck" cutie mark representing his klutziness in a rodeo, though he wanted to be part of the rodeo but not for the laughs.
Now it's not bad to not have a cutie mark yet, it just gives a filly more time to explore their inner talents while Silver spoon and Diamond Tiara wasted theirs by being impatient, resulting in jealousy over the CMC.

This Idea lead to us adding that same problem to our Pizza protagonist but instead, she wasted her life trying to be like her cousin and didn't get to explore gaining her cutie mark. Which leads her to be called a fraud. She was given a chance to get a cutie mark without thinking about the risk. That is also an example of having a bad cutie mark, desperate to get one. Now, where did we hear that before?

Where Applebloom uses a potion to get a cutiemark and helplessly gets more, causing trouble at ponyville. For Pizza pie she uses ritual to gain a cutie mark, but baring a life time curse.
