    Arms and Armament

So, I was catching up on some blog posts this morning, and happened upon one which discussed the way objects can reflect characters, and happened to use their choices of weapons as an example. Which set me off down the track of contemplating what, in Equestria's earlier and rather rougher pieces of history, might our favorite protagonists arm themselves with should such warlike preparations be

    Color Coordination

Given the full-spectrum range of coat and mane colors among Equestrian ponies, can you imagine the trouble planners of any sort of public event that needs a seating chart must have? Not only do they have to take into account all the same considerations that we do, but Earthly event planners don't have to worry about accidentally creating eye-wateringly bad color combinations by accident.

    Military Controversy

Is the basic earth pony military unit infantry, or cavalry?

Please overthink as much as possible, then justify your answers.

I've been conlanging some more, and since some of the words this time are of Advancedverse relevance, thought I'd drop a pointer here.

...from some possible future point, because it was stuck in my writing-output-buffer, and nothing else is coming out until I clear it.

Rarity, when it came to magic, was not Twilight Sparkle. (As a respectable and average 2.7 on the zero-to-eight logarithmic scale used to measure the thaumatic potency of unicorns, this did not concern her, since no unicorn currently alive could match Twilight -- who had, according to the whispers of the Canterlot gentry, been assessed as a 9.2 during a certain infamous entrance examination.)

She was, however, undecided whether to be more amused or irritated by the blindness this caused in all too many of those who found themselves going up against her friends, for one reason or another. After identifying Twilight as the obvious magical threat, the thoughtful ones would then pick out Applejack and Rainbow Dash as "the fighters", and pay all too little attention to the other three - a mistake that might be excusable where Fluttershy was concerned, for anypony who hadn't seen for themselves just how quickly timidity could become intimidation if one managed the difficult task of sufficiently angering her, and perhaps even in the case of Pinkie Pie, if they avoided thinking about just how certain things were achieved with the dexterity of any Ponyville resident of long standing.

But really, she thought, did none of them take a moment to consider the implications of a field honed day and night for years in the skilful and simultaneous manipulation of a good dozen tools of the fashionista's craft?

The silence, broken by occasional strangled gulps, coming from the front rows of the mob - both those who could feel the presence of an impossibly sharp sewing needle encompassed in a gentle blue glow pressed against some sensitive part of their anatomy, and those who preferred not to look for one in case they found it - suggested that they were considering those implications in some detail now...

Rarity finally being allowed to use her abilities.

If she only has needs of a couple of targets, just imagine what she can do with magically enhanced thread. I mean, Im sure she has at one point had to remove an eyelash that was where it wasnt supposed to be, or a thread of her mane or tail come lose had managed to get caught round, twisted, entangled and knotted tightly. Or even just in the nose or mouth. And have you ever had a bit of earwax come loose.

And there are those rumors of just what she uses the ponykins to practice for in a room that is never mentioned. :duck:

Now. Who wants to, Press The Point, as one may say? :raritywink:

It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for. :raritywink:

This is one of many times I've wished I could drop a Like on a blog post.

Have a hoof-bump instead. /)
