And I can't believe they just made Bumblebee come out as an Apache Chopper only to appease to the sentient war machine minority. Totally ruined the drama when they're forcing an inappropriate chaingun placement in every scene. I had to explain to my six-month-old niece what those robots were doing!

One of Michael Bay's things, which he's been doing a lot in the TF movies, is jerking off (to) the military. They always feature heavily in the plot, and there's always at least one over-long sequence of military guys doing things with cool military toys. Lots of times, this means having them jump off stuff: parachuting out of planes, wing-suiting off skyscrapers, you name it.
And in this movie, which has something of a "civilization has broken down/post-apocalypse" feel to it, he still found a way for military-looking dudes to jump off something high. A cliff is a good bit different from anything that's shown up in the previous movies, but it still fits the mold, and it's just like, goddammit, Bay, can you take the dick out of your mouth for two fucking minutes?
