Good evening pony fans! We've been off air a little bit due to the constraints of judging your AWESOME stories for Scribblefest! We've just completed round 1 of Judging, and will be working on deciding on finalists soon!
As always, we've got a few stories for you to check out while you wait for Heartshine to return to a timely update schedule judge the pieces for Scribblefest! This story attempts to explore, in depth, what exactly is the deal with Fluttershy and Discord. They’re friendship kind of makes sense, but... really, how is a god of chaos keeping himself in check? How has Fluttershy adjusted her routine to account for small bouts of insanity? Why does this work? Join me in delving into this story and find out for yourself as we explore a day in the (slice of) life of Equestria’s most notorious odd-couple.
It’s not just the beautiful imagery, the cheeky one-liners, the fresh coat of paint on old fandom jokes, or the accurate character voices that’s drawn me into this sweet tale. It’s how the author has taken concepts that I have routinely scorned and gently, convincingly, showed me bit by bit and step by step what an idiot I am. And had me smiling every step of the way. Props to the Master, this was just the story I needed this week.

Before you keep scrolling, you should know that this is not the well-known story about Pinkie Pie painting her bedroom. This is a very different, although still very philosophical, story.
The CMCs (pre-season three, mind you) have just finished sprucing up their clubhouse. While AB and Scoots run off to find something fun to do, Sweetie Belle decides to test a theory, something she’s heard from adults in her life, but something she doesn’t really believe; that watched paint never dries. I mean, that’s absurd, right? How can watching paint somehow keep it from drying?
While this one-shot isn’t pulled along by drama and conflict, it carries itself through beautiful descriptions, loveable characterization, and profound introspection. What it lacks in explosions, it makes up with the warm-fuzzies that most of us pony fans openly cherish. It’s a treatise on the nature of wealth, ownership, and ultimately family. While it might not be for everyone, this vivid and enjoyable stroll through a Sweet Apple Acres afternoon is an underrated treat delivered by a talented author.
