REEEEJECTION! · 2:19pm Mar 26th, 2017

Wanderlost was rejected by EQD. Cue big dramatic whining noise and a drama couch.

OH WOE IS MEEEE OH WOE IS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~!

That being said, I actually expected this. I'm well aware Wanderlost has some pretty major pacing problems and probably more than a few grammatical errors. (I've just been informed that I've been capitalizing and punctuating quotes wrong! Hooray for me!). The review I got from EQD told me that, so no big surprises there - I figured it would be something I could fix given effort.

However... That being said, there was another major problem.

I apparently have a mood whiplash problem, and I jump around too much. And well, I was unaware of this. Take the latest scene with the Mite in the bacon restaurant - that's a funny scene, even though there's supposed to be serious stuff talked about in it. Everyone loves the Mite as a character, but sometimes he distracts from what is needed. And this is spread out throughout the story, in such a way that if I were to edit it out, well, the story would change and It'd force everyone to read it again. And I wouldn't do that.

So... I don't think I'll edit it to that extent. After it's done I might go back and make more grammar fixes, but I won't alter the fundamentals of the story, since you've already grown to read it.

...My NEXT project I'll edit a lot more before posting so I don't run into this problem.

...Seeing as I just mentioned it, I might as well tease about it. Next pony project. Releasing April 12th (hopefully) with updates every Wednesday. I've put the most work into this one of all my big stories, and it's time to see if it holds up.

Unfortunate about the EQD thing, I know I have way to much work on my writing I need to do before I feel good enough to submit any of my own stuff to them, but I eagerly await to see what this new project is and see if it's something that would interest me.

You know, I feel like the problem is that the first part had a lot of mystery and adventure, while the arrival on the planet is a little more mundane, simply because the creatures they meet are too familiar. Had they been a bunch of mammalian ants, walking pitcher plants with gelatinous eye-stalks, fuzzy centipedes, or creatures that spin like tops, I'd have been more intrigued to meet them.

I think, were I from Equestria, I'd be ecstatic regardless of what happened. They had gotten loose on a life planet. Nothing would stop their survival now, regardless of what problems came up with the locals. They're no longer dangling on a thread over the abyss. That alone is reason to be cheerful in spite of it all.

I actually think I might release 'teasers' in the form of blog posts for it, depending on how fast the work on it goes.

Yeah, I suppose that's also a problem. I'm aware that 'similar life' is a science fiction trope that is inaccurate, but I decided to roll with it - probably to my detriment, as you pointed out. Oh well, what's done is done.
