Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT2012 final season) - Impressions · 1:33pm Mar 26th, 2017

I missed the season premiere on first run last week, but caught it on demand this morning prior to this week's new episode. Below are some rambling thoughts on the beginning of the final season of TMNT2012.

- Turtles season 5 has a completely new intro, which has a very Cowboy Bebop vibe to it. I kinda like it.
- The new opening pretty much clinches the "post-script season" thing.
- This season's show-within-a-show is "Space Heroes: The Next Generation", which takes potshots at ST:TNG. A hilarious running gag is the Wesley Crusher expy being slapped in the face every time he opens his mouth.
- I had thought this season would be pretty much just filler episodes, but they actually managed to pull something resembling a season arc out of their asses--mostly by going back to old comic roots with an arc about the Foot Civil War and resurrecting Shredder.
- MARK HAMILL voices this season's Big Bad!
- S5E2 has a Ghostbusters reference; April found a book at Ray's Occult Books.
- Another new surprise this season: Tatsu, Shredder's right hand from the 90s TMNT movies! His character design is based on the actor who portrayed him in the movies, but elements of the Zatoichi film series and lead character were introduced to create a new character. And he was killed by Kavaxas in his debut episode.

I was watching this show up til I think the beginning of season 2 and unfortunately I lost track of it. I did watch a few episodes where they were in space and I was kind of sad they changed Leo's VA. I just can't believe the show has lasted this long. :pinkiegasp:

I would pay just to see Wesley get slapped across the face at least once per episode in a reshoot/reboot of TNG.
