Five years ago I never would have imagined Donald Trump, PewDiePie, and Jon Tron would be considered Nazi's or that Mel Gibson would ever be allowed to even attend the Oscars let alone get nominated.
Anyways, long story short I fought in the great meme war of 2016 and it has changed me a'lot. Freedom of expression is important to me, and I truly believe its under attack. There are people who believe that if you are not an ultra progressive you are either a racist or white supremacist, and its not just a few people. Identity politics (dividing people by race, gender, religion, sexuality ect) a has torn this country apart.
People being the pissed at the current President or even about an election isn't anything new to me. What's new to me is this social mob mentality and the hatred towards people who don't tow the line. What happened with PewDiePie and Jon Tron was abhorrent, and I believe it can happen to anyone of us if say or think the "wrong thing". Its also very hard not to be political these days because politics is practically shoved down are throats in entertainment.
I may test the waters with taking my frustration in a fun way with a fic. My love of memes has not changed.

I've been out of the loop on all things Jon Tron for a while, and haven't been able to get back into it until a couple of weeks ago.
What happened?
4467210 He got into a debate on Twitter about immigration with some guy name Destiny. He said something stupid in the heat of that debate and then the media wrote articles about him being racist. In the video I linked, you can actually see Jon turn into a Nazi, referencing what happened

Also, I'm Australian, so I tend to miss a LOT of anything political regarding the US.
4467273 America is kind of a mess right now politically. The Immigration debate has become extremely heated, mostly because people who believe we should have better control to prevent crimals and terrorists from entering are labeled as racist who want to smear ALL immigrants.
Jon was on the Trump side of the debate so I believe he was targeted for being vocal.
