I Honestly Don't Feel Much About Pony Anymore · 8:01am Mar 21st, 2017

That's the real reason I haven't updated in the last few months. The direction the show has been taking, as well as fatigue with being excited about something that, well, honestly isn't delivering the kind of quality it used to, on top of the show being almost seven years old is beginning to wear on me.

I'm remarkably indifferent to anything pony has up its sleeve, especially realizing that the first four episodes of the brand new season are A: Starlight focused or B: Oh look it's Flurry Heart and Maud the two most interesting characters ever come back to haunt us again I'm so glad they're doing that instead of something halfway decent.

Looks like hoping we'd get a Celestia episode really has been for naught all this time. Even if they come out with one in season freaking eight, I'll probably have stopped watching the show by then. I'm honestly more excited about things like Gumball or other shows bothering to stretch some creative muscle. Maybe I'll do a bigger blog about my feelings on the show and cartoons in general. Maybe that will shake up this... malaise.

The end is not here, but it's watching us. Don't worry, you won't miss home.

Aw, you're like the anti skirts. I like how he can make me excited about pony stuff i hate (eqg). I'm looking forward to it because I like starlight, and flurry heart is back because ha$bro, but wtf are they doing with maud? She's great for cameos like the smooze episode, but is anyone asking for her?

Take a break then binge. Don't worry, the ride never ends.

just finish your stories first ;_; plz

4465734 Or at least make a blog post about how the unfinished ones would end.

Mm, I don't think there's any official pony content that I don't like, though I suppose there are some eps that were better than others. It might be the color of the glasses I watch it through - I nearly always watch with my kids, and take the show mostly from their perspective. A show like MLP can only be dissected so far, given the intended audience.

But you know? Hobbies and interests come and go. I was a total nut for anime from 1997 to about...say four years ago or so. So much of my 20s spent going to anime cons and absorbing that stuff. I even branched out into a genuine interest in Japanese culture, to the point that I majored in it in college, and lived over there for six months.

But now? The culture and the history still interests me, but I just sorta...fell out of anime, and I couldn't care less about it anymore. Maybe it will come around again, I don't know, but I do know that my interests tend to cycle, and I don't often have control over what goes on the back burner, nor when it does. Maybe it will come around for you again. Just consider not basing it off of the production of new 'official' content - I've been a trekkie since I was eight years old, and I don't care a lick about anything they're produced since the final episode of Enterprise. New content is fine, but I'm happy with my 28 seasons of television reruns and ten movies to enjoy

Well...nine movies. The Motion Picture is...really hard to like.

Whatever way your interests blow, just keep that Magic of Friendship in your heart, no?

Starlight and flurryheart are the reasons I stopped watching.

I don't blame you dude.

Maud is basically like Trixie. They bring them back for cheap laughs. "Oh look, Trixie is still acting like she did in her first episode. Hilarious. Oh look, a thing happened, and Maud is not reacting to that thing as excitedly as everyone else. Ha ha ha. We have written such a deep character."

Most likely one of these two things will happen. Or both.

The singer will one day be gone, but the song will remain. Friendship is magic will always be true.

I totally get that feeling.

I am okay with ending notes, for the record.

Maud could be an interesting character, if developed. Flurry Heart could be a useful foil for a real character. Starlight is permanently broken. Oh, well.

I'm much more interested in Rick & Morty and Steven Universe, but I can't write fan-fiction for those, for some reason. And there's no great community for them. I'm here for the community now, not for the show.
