    An ending

Credit due RandomPerson for shouting enough times into the void. Originally my response to just them privately, I feel it saves me writing it twice and captures something nicely to instead post this here, for anyone else who might yet wander by and, of course, for Random.

    Reviews for writers

That's a working title, but the gist is this:

I've started a little project whereby I'll be reading and reviewing stories, in the spirit of sprinkling a little more attention and perspective on where you might need it.

    Valentine's eve

While I've always semi-seriously (but not really) been an advocate for Valentine's eve - the night and counter-festival for hate, spite, apathy, loneliness and indulgent negativity...

    An unconsolidated thought

The next chapter of Washed Up will be available tonight or - failing that - tommorow.

    On to idle words:

A thought that I've had bouncing around for a time was to compare the stories of Starcraft 1 and 2. Ever since I first glanced a sunken colony over our korean exhcnage student's shoulder, I was enamoured with the korpulu sector.

Reviews for writers · 2:51pm Mar 8th, 2017

That's a working title, but the gist is this:

I've started a little project whereby I'll be reading and reviewing stories, in the spirit of sprinkling a little more attention and perspective on where you might need it.

These reviews will be catered to the writer of the story, with the aim in mind to help identify aspects of writing that could be developed more and aspects of writing that are genuinely strong and deserve to be appreciated as such, especially as nobody overlooks the positives and exacerbates the negatives of a story as much as its own writer, too often is the case.

So this being said, I invite you to send me the link to a story you'd like some attention given and I'll stick it on this very insipired spreadsheet here where, in due time it'll be seen to, too.

Two starter rules:

1 - I'm only accepting submissions from the story's own writer.

2 -Maximum two stories pending per writer. More can be requested as reviews are completed, though repeat customers will get a slightly lower priority than newcomers when theirthey're added to the list.

I'll add a few more guidelines depending on what's missed or needed. So:

WHAT WILL I ACCEPT?

Short Answer: everything. Any tags, any rating.

Slightly Less Short Answer: I've seen most of it before and I've dabbled in some of it. I'll be fine, thanks for asking. That said, I'll be wearing some (read: some) personal bias on my sleeve, so, well: you get what you put in, is what I'm saying. Shouldn't be an issue outside the more extreme of stories.

Soo...yeah. This is a start and pending any massive errors in judgement, reaction or just stuff, this'll be the basic template I'm working from. Questions? Sure, pm me, no worries.

The rules are guidelines and I might change them/refine them as the flow of things gets into happening.

Looking forward to your requests, writers.

Can I reserve a spot for when I write something that won't make you want to go out and punch someone?

Can't link the story I wrote (M rating, but only for gore. Not a shred of sex) but you can always look it up in my stories list on my profile.

I warn you though, its a crossover to Hotline Miami. If you haven't played the two Hotline Miami games, not only is the story a major spoiler but you wouldn't understand it.

With that said, unless one of the reasons I spoke of is the reason you can't review it:

My story is called "You have reached the wrong number."

If you can't review this for one of the reasons I said to you, let me know. i got Another story~

4448858 Sorry, no place-holders. I'll be happy to go punch someone and read one of those stories, though

While I haven't played those games, I'll still take the request. Its on the list

I was a little worried, but I've seen in other reviews you're fairly glowing, gentle with the negatives and quick to point out the positive. I'm glad you're doing this.

Heya, Present Perfect just blogged about this, so you might see an increase in requests shortly.
Well, right now actually, seeing as how I'm starting it off. Always a good thing to get a more critical eye on my work.

So, the longer and probably more enjoyable adventure origin story with its roots based in secondary source material canon, or the shorter effort that aims to give more emotion and purpose to a fanon character who has been mocked en masse? I wouldn't ask you to do both; I'll leave the choice to your discretion should you choose to consider either worthy of your time.

I'm sure every author of every story you review shall gain something positive from this, and I hope you, too, find enjoyment in showing authors where their opals still have chunks of potch clinging to them.

4454754 And where potch has obscured opals. Writers are endemic for lack and loss of confidence. I am to styme some worries and stoke some fires in my small way.

As for your two stories, I will consider them each carefully. I may yet simply power through both - my latest review was a composite of two stories so... I'll think :raritywink:

4454771 You certainly may!

Thank you. I'm happy to do some editing in return, if you need any.

Discovered this through Present Perfect's mention. I'm always looking to learn from the little I've done, so I'll leave a request for Carousel. Thanks for the open offer! Hope you don't get too inundated too quickly.

Aaaand I'm here through Thornquill. :pinkiehappy: I'm always in the market for good, honest critique -- by which I of course mean I want people to tear my work into itty-bitty little ribbons so that I figure out what to do better next time.

So! In the spirit of striving self-improvement (and in picking up your rules and running with them), here's two stories: a light-hearted exploration of a certain brand of Equestrian philosophy, and a middlingly-dark glimpse of pre-Celestian politics, through the eyes of a lone Pegasus warrior. Whichever, if either, strikes your fancy, I'll be glad to hear your thoughts. By which I of course mean I think I've finally found someone who'll tear the bloody things to itty bitty ribbons.

:raritywink: Enjoy! And thank you, for opening this up to us.

All stories are now registered in the review list. Thank you for making the request.

4454951 I'll remember this for future reference!

4455452 I've got a steady workload already for it - nothing that can't be managed, though :twilightblush:

4455528 Under "author requests" I have yours listed as "bring extra knife, and salt" :rainbowwild:

Ooh, this sounds like fun! I humbly request a critique of my only dark(ish) story thus far, Cleave

4456723 Looks a curious story: it's added!

Eh, what the heck. I'll toss my name into the hat if you're still doing these.

4469209 I am, despite a bit of an interruption to proceedings on account of a recent holiday and work. Your place in the queue is seen here.

4472722
Nice! Thank you!

I don't have any stories to toss into the bin (and you've already got enough of a queue as it is, anyways); but I've been absolutely adoring the reviews you've written so far and even as not the author, they've seemed wondrously insightful and given me plenty to think about. Thank you so much for this project, it's a very noble endeavor.
