Finally cranked out another chapter of "Diamond and the Rough." Progress!
Quick question, looking for a rhyming consultant for an upcoming story. Anyone good at measured rhyming? I mean, creating writing couplets that are don't sound awkward when someone says them and aren't lopsided (one couplet being too long and the other too short)? Anyone got any recommendations?
Thanks!
Funny you should mention that... I'm not exactly a slouch when it comes to wordplay, and that includes rhyming, alliteration, and puns. But there's more than one way to rhyme, and "couplets" aren't a style I specialize in. I'm more a fan of the "three-stage" rhyme, like for example:
"I tried to orate a speech,
on the shores of a briny beach,
after so many tries
it was clear to my eyes
that the knack was just out of my reach."
Still, I tend to do better when I have material to MAKE rhyme rather than just forming one out of midair, so perhaps you can give me an example to work with?

It's hard to come up with the lines at a whim. It'd be a sort of story-consultant role, going through the lines of a certain rhyming character (three guesses who) and trying to spruce up the dialogue. Would you be interested in assisting with something like that?

"Part of me fears that I won't meet the bill,
but if I let that control me, then I never will."
In other words, I'm game if you are. Hopefully I'll be up to the task.
