They actually did it... · 1:08pm Mar 3rd, 2017
Can you believe I just found this?! Exchange's Russian translation, in hardcover!
(Click each image for a larger version)
It's gorgeous! From the formatting of the open page, I can tell it's that infamous scene from Chapter 9 ! Congratulations to the talented crew who managed to put this together. I can't imagine the amount of difficulty involved in translating a story of that size into another language, much less wrangling the text into the proper formatting for such a beautiful book. Well done!
Holy cow, well done dude! Was Exchange ever made as a book in English?

Not that I'm aware of, though I'd gladly shell out the cash for an English version of it that looks that good. Holy crap!
Those maniacs! They booked it up!
Dangit! Now I want one too... In English though, please.
Congrats! This story is one that definately deserves a physical copy!
Made by snakeonmoon, huh... IIRC he mostly do a small-scale book-printing and assemble books by hands.
Keep in mind that peoples here translate entire Fallout: Equestria and Project Horizons on Russian :) (although Horizons still need a lot of spell-checking and redacting).
If it was in english i would buy for sure.

I see! He's very talented as this is some amazing work. It's tough to imagine how many sleepless nights it would take to translate something like Project Horizons... those people are definitely dedicated, that's for sure!
Its bigger than I remember it being
P.S. Make another blog if they ever do an english version, I'd be in for that

IIRC Snakeonmoon can print any text that you want encluiding non-pony one. So if you really want a english copy of hardcover Exchange it's just a matter of printing price and postal cost. Well, that and cost of his assembly work.
Absolute madmen!
*Puts on his Democrat hat*
Russian?! Thats Treason!!
*Foams at mouth and passes out*

Supposedly the version pictured doesn't include the two bonus chapters, as they were not translated at the time.
But as much as I'd personally love to have a hard copy of it, the English version needs some serious TLC to get into good publishing shape. It needs another editing pass to fix the errors I know are still lurking there, some formatting corrections, those super large chapters should be broken up into smaller ones to make it easier on the reader, and it could do with another bonus chapter as well.
This is all speaking hypothetically, of course.
Not much*, actually. Took nine months or so. Epic battles were kinda difficult though.
EDT:
* because it's so well written, of course =)

Ha ha! Sure, I'll take your word for it!
Also, I wanted to sincerely say thanks for translating the story and bringing it to a wider audience. I wasn't aware that the translation was finished until a few days ago. While I can't read or speak a word of Russian myself, I can still recognize the spirit of the original version even through the horrible filter of Google Translate. I have no doubt that the finished product is as faithful as can be.
Thank you so much for your work. And if you could, please pass my thanks along to all the Russian readers as well. I hope they enjoyed it!

I do hope that your AN for an extra «Five Vignettes» says it all. Though, you know, I will add it as foreword to .pdf and .epub version, as well as for posted versions.
Also, from the very beginning I asked you if you want a link to translated version =)
FYI, Exchange gathered more than 3K comments total on DarkPony.
And no, thank YOU for YOUR work.
P.S. My Favorite Comment:
«Totally fake dolls, absolutely improper gags, comic and distinct moves, crude appearance. Bedlam. Talently designed Bedlam.
Constant references to a sybaritic-like deviances of those, who tired of life. Sharp, grotesque moves. Bedlam, again. Total bullshit. Inherent Down-Eiltzholtz-syndrome (I know, there's no such a syndrome, but is there any other way to describe THIS?)
And then... then, it all becomes serious. Like a chopping-block-serious. Hack! And all you see is props, props of a tragedy. Childhood memories. Pain. Secretiveness.
Absurd turns out to be not an absurd, but a hectic life. A rash commitment turns out to be an unselfish and devoted LOVE.»

That's amazing, it's a perfect description of the story! Thanks for sharing.

And here I was thinking that it just needed proper formatting.
Well, they do say we are our own biggest critic.

Yes, it'll take some amount of effort, but I plan to start working on it soon. Because I'll be honest - I want one of these!
The final piece of the puzzle will be to determine how to gracefully explain it away and then change the subject if a curious visitor happens to pluck it from my bookshelf, but I suppose there'll be plenty of time to figure that part out.

If that is an issue for you, you could get it made in a size that matches a dust cover from one of your existing books.
My excitement grows already.
Where can I get one in English
4484263
Once I've completed the hardcover English version I'll make a post that has all the details as to how you can get one. It will be a while though, possibly 4-6 months before it's done.
