Equestria Girls Flipped! (Side: Canterlot High part 2)

Alright, so picking up where we left off E!Spike approaches the Canterlot High version of Ditzy Doo to try and get her help. Yeah, he's got plans for how to loosen Sunset's hold over the school and make it clear that he's not just gonna fall in line for her, but there's still a ton about this world he doesn't know about (not the least of which being how to use the technology). Luckily for him,

    Looking for some advice/inspiration.

I'm trying to start a fanfic where the main character has amnesia and I want to avoid the cliche "wakes up going 'where am I who am I?'" approach.

    Thoughts?

Equestria Girls Flipped! (Side: Canterlot High)

So you're all probably wondering what E!Spike is up to while CH!Spike is having fun in Equestria.

Well it starts with him getting to know the local police and their station pretty well.

    Equestria Girls Flipped! (Side: Equestria)

After quite a few failed attempts to start this and a bit of thought I realized it will likely be a lot easier to write (and read) this summary if I divided up the two story lines (Equestria and Canterlot High) and then brought things back together when they actually intersect.

    Therefore, welcome to:

Thoughts from the Multiverse: My Take (Mirror-verse) · 12:40am Mar 2nd, 2017

Let's try a little something more with these.

The Mirror-verse

How I'd do it

For thousands of years, Princess Celestia has ruled Equestria with kindness, wisdom, and patience. No matter what threat approaches her country or what manner of natural or political disaster may strike she's always handled herself with grace and never complained once when protecting and guiding her little ponies. The job hasn't been easy, not by a long shot, but she's always been proud of her work.

Of course, that doesn't mean she can't desire a chance to stretch her wings. Something Discord is all-too-aware of.

Oh it sounded like one of Discord's jokes at the start. Just him trying to get a cheap laugh by suggesting she take a vacation for a while, then he'd teleport her to Las Pegasus or Manehatten and she'd need to balance an impromptu public appearance while simultaneously trying to find an opening to return to Canterlot as soon as possible.

Except Discord might have taken the joke a little too far this time. Our beloved Princess of the Sun certainly wasn't expecting him to send her to an entirely different universe, and she especially didn't expect him to stick her in the body of her counterpart in that world! Now she's just Celestia, a pegasus pony and older sister to the freshly crowned Princess of Friendship, Luna.

And as it turns out, plain-old regular Celestia might not have been the nicest pony in this world...

Heh, the classics of the Mirror-verse can always be fun to play with. Rather than just borrowing Mirror-questria from the comics, though, this would be one of my own design. Swapping not just alignments, but also stuff like species, life position, and relative power levels between the heroes and villains of the canon, both major and minor ones.

So you get Luna (remember, she used to be Nightmare Moon), Discord, Tirek, Chrysalis, Sombra, and one of the Dazzlings as the normal Equestrian citizens who found the Elements of Harmony.

The Mane Six and Spike each wind up taking the place of one of the Season Finale big bads (such as, say Empress Rarity, wicked mistress of the Crystal Empire).

The minor villains (Trixie, Flim and Flam, et al) wind up in more prominent heroic positions such as being the ruler(s) of this Equestria.

And major forces for good (like Celestia herself) are the minor villains. In this case, this Swap-verse Celestia is an obnoxious show-offy pegasus pony that's jealous of her little sister Luna being a big hero and stealing attention from her.

So you get Celestia trying to figure out how to get home when she's considered to be an untrustworthy jerk (as a best-case scenario), coupled with the dawning realization that if she's in Swap-lestia's body in Swap-verse then there's only one pony that could be occupying her original body back in Canon Equestria...

Considering the Dazzlings and Sunset Shimmer were movie based and kept (for the most part) separate, wouldn't Starlight Glimmer make more sense as the 6th Element as opposed to trying to decide which Dazzling it would be, since Starlight was the Big Bad of S5? I suppose it depends upon your feelings about Starlight.

I'd be amused to see Sonata Dusk as the Element of Laughter, myself...

If I had to venture a guess as to how the rest would go...

Luna - Magic, because she becomes the Princess of Friendship.
Discord - Honesty
Chrysalis - Generosity
Sombra - Kindness
Tirek - Loyalty

Actually my considerations were:

Luna- Magic, yeah I gave that one away.
Discord- Laughter, because what else could he be?, and species changed to a prank-happy teenage dragon
Chrysalis- Kindness, a pegasus pony who raises flowers and insects
Sombra- Generosity, unicorn, and Mayor of Ponyville
Tirek- Honesty, Minotaur, and started as Luna's bodyguard when she first came to Ponyville.
Dazzlings, probably Adagio Blaze- Loyalty, earth pony, she and the other Dazzlings are still a group and dreaming of making it big.

In terms of threat level, yeah Starlight was major, but power-wise she doesn't quite match up to the others. I more considered Starlight being one of the ruling princesses actually...

There's something rather appealing about Celestia getting tricked like this. :p

Yeah. I have to admit this DOES have A LOT of potential.

And, hey, maybe Starlight could be in the role that Celestia herself is usually in. Her equality kick could be channeled positively by, among other things, building up ALL sentient beings to their maximum potential (i.e. strengthening the weak instead of weakening the strong), plus her School for the Gifted being open to ALL sentient beings with the desire to learn and the ability to do the work.

Of course, the question would be which one of the usual Mane Six would be in the role of each major villain (with the exception of Rarity; who you already basically said would be in Sombra's usual role):

Twilight as either Nightmare Moon OR Chrysalis would seem much too obvious (the former owing to the number of AUs that depict Twi as either Nightmare Moon's daughter or her lover and the latter owing to the number of Changeling-Twilight fics out there). However, Discord or Tirek would seem less obvious (especially the latter as there have been, if not no, then at least extremely few, fics depicting Twi in a Tirek like role. That, and the possibility of Shining Armor being passingly mentioned in a Scorpan-like role).
