Updates almost ready and Why I write. · 2:46pm Feb 27th, 2017
Heyo! Scythe here, my life has returned to a somewhat normal schedule. The update for Shadows will be out soon, I have yet to right this, but I've got an idea for it.
Now on another note, I've read Novel Idea's recent blog post, (if you don't know of him, I suggest that you read his work) and it inspired me to state why I write. I write to escape this bull we call reality. I don't write to escape my life, I know some have it much worse than me. I write to distract myself from my own inability to help. It pains me to walk down the street and to see a homeless Veteran. I cannot imagine having to live in that situation while having to deal with the horrors of combat. I cannot help them, but some days I got out and a sit down with them, and I learn their stories.
That is why I write, so I can read them the stories I make, some that are even inspired by their own stories. I write so they may have a brief escape from reality.
If anyone ever saw my dashboard before I reset my PC, you'd see hundreds of unposted stories, many I'd never post because those are personal, not just to me but also to those the stories were inspired by.
That is why I understand so much about war, military terminology, and the pains of loss. I talk to people who've experienced them firsthand, I have many Veterans, my JROTC instructors, and even some family.
I write to help people escape from reality. But our society is screwed up so much that the Montgomery GI Bill doesn't help the homeless veterans it was supposed to. I write to honor the hero's most overlook as a homeless junkie. Because if no one knows their stories, my generation will lose so much wisdom. I write to help, I've seen many hospitalized and on the verge of death, and some have asked me just to read a story. I have yet to seen any die, and I don't wish to, but I will always hold their stories close to my heart. And I'll someday tell them to my own children. Because I'm just one teen, i cannot change the world by myself, but I can place the seeds for the future
I can help someone in need.
I thank you for your time
