What is Wrong with me · 8:06pm Feb 26th, 2017

I just realized I got overly ambitious, to a ridiculous level. I really like the series Log Horizon (the anime, I haven't read any of the written works yet), so much so I started using some of it as a template for both a story and a game. The game aspect is where realized where I started seeing just how immensely ambitious I was making the game; if you are interested PM me and we'll discuss it where there's less chance of getting overheard. I won't get into specifics, for various reasons, but I will give a general overview. I wrote the game world up to be a 1/8 scale model of the globe, the game world itself is modeled after our world too quite a bit of an extent. In addition to that, I wrote up over 30 classes and over 20 races for the game, granted I wrote it so that certain races would primarily be available on specific server networks year-round, but still the fact I wrote that many up is kind of scaring me. And don't even get me started on how many professions I've written up, I've rewritten and replaced just enough that my count might be a little off; and that's not counting the Events I wrote up as being a thing on a regular basis. Going back and looking over just a moment ago gave me a bit of a headache. If I were to go to a company, and they were to agree to make this game, it could be a contender for most expensive MMO at launch. The only good news I have regarding all that is that the game has not be written with a PvP faction system in mind, in fact with so many different components it would probably be next to impossible to have a Faction system beyond parties and guilds.

Feel free leave comments or contact me, or have someone you think might be interested contact me. It all doesn't matter, I just needed to shrug this weight off.

I honesty don't know any one in the industry, but I have to applaud your ambition. I'd play the game.

4437607 Thanks, I guess it's the really ambitious projects that can move the whole genre forward, and I guess a game project so ambitious could conceivably unseat the current king of the genre and possibly force the ones that want to remain to do something similarly ambitious or lose their customer base. After all, a game that makes an effort to make culturally distinct choices from nation or region to nation or region means the developers of the game care enough about the distribution to try and make the experience more varied, and events that allow for a short period of experiencing the other server networks probably make it all feel a bit more global. It's one one thing to here about how things are for the players in another country, but completely different to actually see what the world of the game is like on their server network. Yeah, events that temporarily link some of the servers of other nations to certain networks for a short time on its own is pretty ambitious, but combining it with everything else above makes it a little mind boggling it all came from the head of a single person.

4437844 Ambition is critical for any project. All the fortune I wish for you.

4437847 Thanks, right now the game stuff is taking a back seat to the story. Hopefully, I'll manage to finish and it will generate interest on the part of someone in the industry. Of course, the main issue to something so diverse is a need for research, which hopefully I can do more academically than I usually do.

4437849 Best of luck all the way.
