Lise, Dessert, Lise Eclaire! · 6:40pm Feb 10th, 2017
Hey script fillies and colts! Today, I am talking about Lise. Yes! Lise Eclaire. Right there >> Lise! Now recently, Lise has hit two major milestones in dropping some mad reads on this site. First, the dream of 500 followers was achieved, and second, one of Lise's great tales just received a feature interview with the RCL. Those pair of things are pretty damn amazing, but the events got me thinking: what is it that makes Lise's accomplishments truly special?
To really encapsulate this message, I have to go back to nearly two years ago when Lise first sent me a PM. At the time, I think The Autocorrect Spell was the latest work. For reference purposes, that was Story #6. Rather conveniently, that translates nicely to the present. Lise has 60 published stories as of this second. That is 6.. with a 0... and has written nearly 600,000 words worth of fimfic material. In that sense, the importance doesn't rest with Lise's stories climbing the feature box, or with the fact that a few have captivated very wide audiences. It's that work, a lot of work, was done! The grind was conquered. Sixty-fucking-stories! The raw output is staggering to me...
...which brings me to point number two. I know a lot of friends who have receded into their creativities. They get going, and they vanish. They forget where they've been. They forget the friendship and lose themselves to the output. Not Lise. Lise is a gem, who through the trek to 60 stories, 40 blogs, 500 followers, and a few fantastic features has never... ever... forgotten to drop a mention of So-and-So A, who, in Lise's head, helped pave the way. Go read the RCL interview. Other authors, editors... given the dues. And it ain't just because there was an interview going on. That's just how Lise is. A week ago, Lise put up a blog plugging one of my stories—called me a mentor!—which honestly is probably a great over-exaggeration, but it is that sort of thoughtfulness and kindness that undoubtedly defines Lise's quality as not only an author, but as a friend.
To be blunt, Lise, you remind me of my dad—the type of person who is always willing to be there to listen, ask, and inspire. You've fought for it—every word, every chapter, every story. And no one deserves the recognition more. I'll be popping a celebratory Coke for you tonight. Keep it up, and congratulations!
P.S. The title of this blog was totally read aloud in the manner of Calvin Klein.
Yup Lise and you also Wing, are pretty great ponies.
