me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Sixteen Tons: Johnny Cash style · 2:30am Feb 9th, 2017

Amazingly, I am managing to find interesting videos for you to see. Okay, bit of backstory, after seeing the Superbowl Trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and hearing it's awesome rendition of Ain't No Grave being played, it got me in a Johnny Cash mood and had me searching for songs of his, and I found this cover of the very old Tennessee Ernie Ford hit Sixteen Tons. (Raise your hand if you actually knew the song before hearing this version.)

That riff... Pure awesome. And for bonus musical fun, here's the rendition of Ain't No Grave that was played during the trailer. Only way to make it better, was if the Man in Black himself came back from the dead to sing it.

Ooh! Ooh! Me! I knew the song beforehand! :rainbowwild:

4420875 I knew this song as well, but the only reason I did was because of my father's wide ranging taste in music. My opinion, Johnny does it so much better. As far as I can see, he can cover it anything and make it sound so much better. Take Hurt for a good example. Nine Inch Nails... Meh, but with Johnny's rendition it becomes all that much more powerful and affecting, especially when you realize the circumstances surrounding it's recording.

4420892 Well, at the time Johnny's wife had recently passed away, and Johnny himself would pass away not too long afterwards, and so I think he probably knew he was dying and couple that with his sense of loss and grief, he probably covered the song as a result.

4420893 Oh wow, this brings a while different perspective on the song... *goes to go listen to it again*
