Bad Tires > Missed Work > No Story · 12:36am Jan 28th, 2017

My tires are deciding to go flat and blowout on me!

Replacing them will cost 140$ per tire, as ive already had two blowouts in four months from used tires, I'd rather not drive everywhere in panic that a road bump might actually be my tire failing.

It prolly goes without saying that if my tires go out, I wont be able to work and support myself, so I won't be able to write.

I might be able to buy the tires myself, but any support you're able to provide would help greatly!

You can donate to my Patreon https://www.patreon.com/SannyWriting

Or my Paypal, which In order to avoid personal spam messages, you'll have to send a message via fimfiction to me.

I don't like asking for help, but I don't want to leave all of you on a story cliffhanger either. Any help is greatly appreciated!

How much does a taxi cost in your area?

when I lived in South Dakota people hired Crown Victoria Taxi's (like boats from the late 70's in 2014) to get them to work on the really bad Ice days. Probably better for your tires than whatever they're mixing into the salt brine that's eating them up.

I live in Arizona, where snow is a myth.

I dont have the money for a taxi to carry me 60 miles+ every workday either .-.

I know they sell more expensive tires where you don't have to replace them for 9 years, But I'm not sure they are available for all models of vehicle or if they are reasonably priced.

I work part time minimum wage and Im lucky to have money enough for mcdonalds, let alone super tires :c

If it makes you feel better I probably can't afford them either... and somone did calculations that patching up a tire would probably save you more money than new ones... although the estimate for patching up tires was closer to $720 for each one, and I'm sure your insurance company would not approve should anything happen.

Getting 4 new tires would cost me about the same .-.

I mean in total, 700 ish for 4 new tires.

there's a penny test, you can use to see if you need to replace them all. You could just replace them piecemeal... and my dad once used the narrow spare tire that comes with most cars for well over six months without getting a new one.

If your tires blowout that often the problem may be your wheels, if they are damaged then it can cause weaknesses in the tires, another reason could be that your alignment is off which can cause unnecessary wear on certain spots on the tires.

You have to replace tires in pairs...
If one tire has more tread than the other (on opposite sides of the vehicle) it will wear down extra fast.

You can keep one of the old tires if it isn't completely worn out as a spare... and keep it inflated in your trunk as a spare... If you have a jack and the correct socket/s and a break-over bar.... then next time you can replace it yourself in a half hour, to get you through the day. Then latter take the flat tire to get it fixed and re-attach it.

Shit, man. 140$ per tire? What do you drive? I recently had to replace one at 93$... Then two weeks later I had to replace two, after a wonderful bar trip... And, I'm looking at the bill, 70.18$ per tire, 7.08$ Shop supplies, and 3.04$ for the Valve Stems. Then another 50$ for alignment and then 10$ for tire disposal. ...That was a bad week, but I had the cash at the time so whateves~

4400495 Not entirely true. Yes, it's a good thing to get two replaced at a time and keep the other as a spare. But like me, you already did that before you fucked over the tires you bought the last time so your spare has more tread than your actual tires. And if you blow three your suckered into buying four, no thank you. That being said, my other tires were fine since they didn't wear, I curb jumped.

So, from what my mechanic father told me. "As long as you rotate them every now and then, now that it's somewhat aligned. You'll be fine."

I drive a 2007 Crown Victorian police interceptor that I got from police auction for around 500$

The tires are literally more than what I got the car for x_x

4401033 Awesome, I always liked that car... aside from when it pulls me over. But damn! That's some bullshit. Did you go high-end, mid-grade, or cheap? I went mid-grade... because I'm poor. By the by, I drive a 00' Toyota Sunfire coupe. On the tires, I mean.

I would throw some money at you, but I don't have much money either. :twilightsheepish: I hope it all works out! God Bless! :pinkiehappy:

Does paypal allow you to send money to someone if you don't have a paypal account?

PS:
I sent a message asking for the paypal info.
