I wonder... who still follows me?

And, if you do, what would you say about me coming back? I know it's been a while (if you can call a few years "a while"), but while I've been away I've learned, been humbled, and found my passion for storytelling once again. I'd be so happy if some people decided my work was worth reading after all this time.

Thank you so much, and I'll do my best to entertain you once again!

I come back, and this is the welcome I receive...

So, I post the 13k story I've been working on for a month and it gets twenty-something views and three thumbs--one of them down! I'm just wondering where everyone is... I mean, I don't expect sad tragedies to be everyone's cup of tea, especially with what I've written in the past, but I'm proud of this work (even though I know I probably shouldn't be).

My Belated Christmas Present to You

    Merry Chris-

Huh? It's no longer Christmas? :rainbowhuh: Wait, it's past new years?! :rainbowderp: Woah, how long was I out for?! :rainbowhuh:

Anyway, I finally posted my new story "My Life." I hope those that read it will enjoy it! :pinkiehappy:

    Is it Hoovesteps or Hoofsteps?

Pony terminology is confusing. What's the alternative for "handiwork" or "craftsmanship?" Is there one? And if there is, are there more like this? Do we switch "hand" for "hoof" and "man" for "stallion" or "pony?" They seem like a pretty gender ambiguous culture--but still use "guys" as a way to call a general group, typically between friends. On the other hand--or hoof--they also have pretty

    Week Publish Game

So, on Christmas (at, like, 4:00 in the morning the day after, actually) I put a story up for posting here on Fimfiction.

Now, "where is this story?" one might ask.

    Still not posted.

"Why?" might that same person ask.

Because the publishers didn't post it by new year's and I got cold feet.

I come back, and this is the welcome I receive... · 10:20pm Jan 26th, 2017

All I ask is that those that don't like it leave a brief comment as to why they don't like it. Even it it's just "it was too fast paced" or "your characters are inconsistent." I don't think readers know exactly how helpful those kinds of comments can be to a writer. If I don't know what kind of mistake I'm making, how do I fix the mistake?

The only time you really have a problem is when you don't know you have a problem.

(fun fact, googling that exact phrase gets you a bunch of AA links) :twilightoops:

I'm not mad--I don't really get mad--I'm just wondering what I should do differently to appease the powers that be...

Namely, you all.

(Yes, that's pandering, but I write because I enjoy writing and I'll take any idea I get and run with it. I do it for me, but I also do it for you. Don't tell me what I already know)

I like your stories. I go read your new story now.

Thanks! But this post is more about the frustration I get from people that leave dislikes but no comments.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy my stories! :twilightblush:

I'll admit that I avoid anything with a tragedy tag like I owe it money, so I can't really give input there. But at least I don't thumb down simply because it's not my genre.

I also tend to wait for stories to top 20k before I read them or with short one-shots for when I only have a short amount of free time. But I'll put it on the schedule to read this weekend while I'm off work so I can give some sort of comment on your recent work. :scootangel:

Oh, no, no! When I said the thing about the cup of tea I meant I don't expect all of my readers and followers to enjoy tragedy and sad stories (in fact, I also tend to avoid them :twilightblush:). If you don't enjoy that kind of story, you don't have to read it.

Though I would like some thoughts on my non-tearjerkers. :pinkiehappy:

Either way, it's totally up to you what you do or don't read. I'll take what I can get. :ajsmug:
