Apparently, I Have Dyscalculia · 8:53pm Jan 22nd, 2017
I got the call today from my Professors. I did some kind of math test and failed miserably. Most of the symptoms matched. It's like Dyslexia, only with numbers. I didn't even know such a thing existed
I'm not too sure on how to react...I guess it answers a lot of questions in my life?
Everything is different now
Aw. That sucks.
4392450 Yeah...at least I know why I could never understand math. Answers are always good to have, I suppose.
Oh dear. I hope it's not too big of a problem.
Aww, that's too bad, Summer. Now you won't be able to appreciate how good your stories are with their high upvote to downvote ratio...
4392455 I hope so too. Thankfully, my current major is in film, so I'm not required to take math. There is still budgeting to consider, however.
It's ok. Just recently I got diagnosed with mild asthma.
4392457 LOL It's not that bad. Of course I can still count. I'm told that not everyone has the same symptoms. I have to count out loud on my fingers and I keep forgetting how to divide. I'm not even sure what time it is with the simple glance of a clock. I'd have to count it one by one.
Welp
RIP numbers for Summer
4392463 Aw, I'm sorry. How do you feel on terms of breathing?
4392467 Numbers were always my enemy
4392459
Yeah. I wish you luck my friend.
4392473 Thanks.
4392451 Yeah, I guess it's kinda of good to know. Still sad. Some concepts to me look straight up like some kind of alien language.

4392481 ... No joke, that was one of the last topics we did last semester.
<<~~ My brain.
My brother has that, math has always been a problem for him. I think it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Sorry about that, dear... but to be honest, most can't deal with numbers... I failed at math in school.
Ouch, at least with me I can somewhat understand math and numbers, (Well, anything beyond dividing and multiplying is mostly over my head) but that sounds horrible...
I knew it was a thing but... Honestly, I can't tell if that's better or worse than just being bad at math. I suck at math and a lot of folk I know do too. How do you feel about it?
4392498 Totally.
4392515 Sorry you flunked math Numbers are something else. It's like a different language.
4392516 It's kinda irritating, but you know, people have worse things going on in their lives, so I can't complain.
4392531 I'm still not sure how to feel about it. On one hand, I'm just like...really? But on the other hand, it's kind of hilarious (I'm weird like that.) But, you know. For now it's not too big of a problem, which is good!
Interesting. Sorry to hear this. I was always aware of it's existence, but I never actually knew an individual with it. Hope this won't affect you too much in the future. But it's not like you can't deal with numbers at all, right? They're just harder for you. Hopefully you can still recognize the amazing number of likes and followers you have
English was my enemy. I understand how you feel. I think I might be a little dyslexic, but I think we all are in one way or another, revering letters/numbers and whatnot.
What class was this test in (just out of curiosity)?
As far as being unsure of how to feel about it, I would say remember that most people are on the same boat as you. Some excel at Math, some excel English, etc. Don't let it get to you. Nobody's perfect.
4392464 That makes me feel even more sad, considering that I have a Maths GCSE here in the UK.
4392545 Yeah, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. English is tough for a lot of folks too, but look at you, a fantastic writer It wasn't a class, just a test that I had to take in a room, like the SATs. Since I wasn't taking any math classes. they decided to test me on my knowledge of math.
4392546 Don't be sad! Be GLAD that you have that kind of talent!
4392541 Eh, doesn't matter. I have a job that doesn't require math... Only number memory... and I have nothing of that either.
4392549 Ah, okay. And thank you . English was my arch-nemesis in high school, and for the one semester I had of it last year.
I'm guessing Film doesn't have any complicated math in it, like integrals or infinite series and whatnot. I'm sure you'll be fine. The major isn't too math intensive, to my knowledge at least.
4392561 Fake it till you make it!
4392565 Yep, everything works out for the better
4392568 Or just ask the office so they can give you the designation.
Well that's a kick to the teeth.
4392580 ...that is much better
4392584 As long as numbers keep their distance, all will be well
4392589
Though numbers are everywhere. All those nasty measurements.
4392468 I've been fine these past few days on breathing and I use a puffer now.
Aww, sorry to hear that I hope it won't be too much of a problem I hate maths and I don't really understand it anyway. When it comes to algebra, I just switch off
Well, you're not the only one who has trouble with math. I pretty much failed my Pre-algebra/Algebra SATs, which is kind of a problem for my college classes...
Well that's unfortunate. But I'm sure everything will turn out okay. Just don't let it get to you m'kay!
It exists, but it's way easier to deal than Dyslexia, supposedly. there's only 10 figures in math, an like 28 in the alphabet.
...
Yup, we're related alright.
4392589 Yeah. It's a thing. My friend has it.
It sucks.
He's a successful student though and got an A in Math.
Just be sure to know what your needs are and tell you student advisor. I suggest that anything relating to math you ask for extended time and a calculator.
My friend got that because he asked for help.
Don't be afraid to ask.
I've heard about it, but you're the first person I know who has it.
Just hope no one ever asks 'How many fingers am I holding up?'
Oooh damn, sorry to hear that... at such a high age? Didnt think it could affect adults! Well hopefully its not serious and i hope that it wears off (if it could)!
4392744 Thank you for the advice..I'm not one to ask for help, but it seems that I need to make more of an effort
4393591 Yeah. But ask for help if you need it okay?
The first step to winning a war is to know what you have and what you need to fix.
I've never heard of that before. I'm sorry my friend
4400336 Don't be sad. It happens
