Whoo boy, this chapter. Ok. So, way back in the day it wasn’t the Tome that took over, but a super evil other villain you’ve already met if you’ve seen any of the show itself. My reviewer pointed out that it was a fucking stupid idea (my words; he was much more diplomatic about it) and I tore it out. It’s still in the deleted scenes I have in my workspace.
Additionally I didn’t have the heroes dealing with Cairo until a couple weeks ago. But there’s no place for real fight scenes after the climax, so a chunk of Chapter 15 was moved into here. That’s why it’s so long. Sorry, reader that wanted shorter chapters!

This chapter makes me cry, if I’m in the right mood. I am unfortunately empathetic to people crying — one of the many reasons I’ll never watch certain comedies like The Note Book — but in this case I’m really proud to bring a grown man to tears (that’s me.)

On that note, would you have enjoyed the story more if I’d put in a little more shipping than just innuendos and very friendly overtures?
I’d considered a moment in the cage, before Midnight and Cairo would return, where AJ and Dash would lament their situation, and through a contrived series of events would wind up only centimeters apart, saying, “It’s not Dash and Applejack. Rock and Daring would do this, right?” AND THEN THEY’D ALL FUCK THE END.
