The title sums up this blog completely, I have elected to keep Nyx and the Sunset incomplete.
Why? - Well I'll tell you, this story does not have a definitive direction I can take it. From the start of writing, I always had an ending in mind and even now, I still won't divulge that information, the ending is my secret and your spoiler so I won't be saying anything. But it's getting to that ending that I have fault with.
Chapter seven is set up to introduce the first antagonist of the story, and chapter seven, upon release, would solidify the story's direction that I know for a fact a majority of readers will not enjoy, I myself find the stories second third and fourth story arcs to be light, mildly dark, and dark. This story would devolve from being a cute fic into being a dark story that I don't know if Pen Stroke would approve of.
Now the second direction takes on a slice-of-life kind of story line I only recently thought of whilst watching the anime, Clannad, and I think this is a perfect direction to take the story, if the fic wasn't already set up to be dark to begin with but that's nothing I can't fix.
The re-edits I have been doing to the story will also work to take the story in either direction, but the problem is, I can't make peace with myself, I don't know which direction to take the story. Do I want to take it this way? Or that way? The Dark story line or the Light Story line. Both appeal to me solidly, like a mountain but I can't bring myself to take the story in either direction.
So, I'm going to leave the story at chapter six, and incomplete. But not cancelled, because that's too harsh. No, incomplete, while yes, a tag to signify it's ongoing, can also be used to show that the story may not be completed and that's probably just my way of looking at it.
I will continue to reedit older chapters of the story, and I will write chapter seven the way it was originally intended but it will otherwise remain off site and inaccessible.
I may continue the story once I have settled on a direction.
i really hope you continue that story because i really like that story
Take however long you desire/need.
On one hand, I'm enjoying the story quite a bit as it is. On the other, Clannad is my favorite slice-of-life anime, so I would be okay with either option.
