I'm on FIRE today! (Pokemon Sun) · 8:08pm Jan 9th, 2017

Sorry, this can't wait until the Friday weekly gaming blog. :rainbowlaugh:

So last week I cleared Mallow's trial, and next step was cleaning up wild Pokemon in Lush Jungle, right? Only I finally ran into Gen VII's most obnoxious gameplay mechanic: Pokemon that only appear as SOS summons, AND Pokemon that only appear as SOS summons in weather conditions.

You know which Pokemon I'm talking about.

So anyway, over the weekend, I made a couple of token efforts to deal with that, but didn't really play seriously (we're talking potty breaks here). Today, I decided to see if I could at least round up ONE of the three most pain-in-the-ass Pokemon to catch in Lush Jungle.

Within a half hour's work, I got all three: Goomy, then Happiny, then Castform. One right after the other.

And to top it all off? FEMALE Goomy. I'm set for trade livestock any time I can be bothered to breed her.

Just...DAMN. @_@;;

You are super lucky! But will your luck hold with fishing? Because with Pokemon Sun and Moon's fishing mechanic, good luck landing anything that's not a Magikarp or a Goldeen.

Speaking as someone who's been trying to find a Castform for far too long, I deeply envy you.

Seriously, what's a synthetic Pokèmon even doing in the wild...

4375939 Yeah, it took me forever to get a Feebas. :pinkiesick:

4375941 Found a Feebas.
Used tackle.
Killed the Feebas.
Well, I'm done for today.

You know which Pokemon I'm talking about.

Afraid I don't, I'm watching TFS Nuzlocke their way through Moon, and I don't have the game myself, sadly.

Didn't you have any Quick Balls?

Wow... Nice Job!

This is why I'm waiting for the bank to open up. I've gone through the trouble of catching them once.

4375947 It's easier to get Castform using Sandstorm than Rain Dance. Rain Dance gives you a 1% chance of Castform and a 10% chance of Goomy.

4375963 I know the feel, bro.

I'm just glad someone gave me a Goomy in a Wonder Trade a while back, and we can get a Happiny from an in-game trade. Still need to try my luck for Castform, though.

Oh, by the way, if you ever want to try naturally catching Poliwrath or Politoed instead of using a Water Stone or a King's Rock trade, I discovered something the hard way the other day: The one that appears depends on the time of day you start the battle. The overworld rains naturally in Malie Garden everyday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., so I thougt I could start a battle, then do something else for about an hour while waiting for the time cycle, to SOS chain for a Politoed without having to rely on Drizzle/Rain Dance. After a couple hours, I still had a Poliwrath appear even during night time. :raritydespair: At least Poliwag seem fond of spamming Rain Dance themselves...

You lucky s.o.g....

honestly, considering that a certain sex slave is literally on the next island, its not too bad to get a female now.

the sandstorm gives gabite in case you don't know, and you can get vanilish on the final mountain to the league (not called victory road this time) when it's hailing.

4376478 Don't ever use the phrase "in case you don't know" or "just so you know" in comments about video games. It comes off as condescending.

...after reading some of these comments, maybe it's a good thing that I haven't played a Pokemon game since the early millennium.

Reminds me I need to get back to Pokemon Moon. Had a lot on my mind lately.

4376489 Wow, I never realized that myself. Is there a better way to phrase that without sounding like a dick? Sometimes I've genuinely been unsure that someone didn't know something.

4377096 Honestly not sure how to phrase it myself without sounding that way. Maybe something like "One thing I've found" or "I don't know if you knew this already, but" or...
Hmm.

4377117 "One thing I've found" is probably good. At least you don't sound especially arrogant when they reply "Everyone knows that."

That's what you need to do to find Gabite?! Huh, never realized SOS and weather mattered so much. So that's why the Pokedex said it was there, I thought it just had a really low appearance rate. I had given up on the desert after getting a Trapinch (just making my way to the Ruins took a bit, even with the clue). Extending the SOS chain to get the Hidden ability of certain Pokemon has been driving me crazy enough already (like Teleporting Abras).

I know I could look all this up online, but that's part of the fun, stumbling on Pokemon accidentally or just using the in-game 'dex.

4377253 SOS battles being used to spawn rares/otherwise unobtainables is the single biggest Scrappy Mechanic of Gen 7.

4376489 Sorry! Looking back at it, yeah kinda does sound a little off. Just wasn't sure if you already knew all the SOS guys or not
