Some Disciplines I Am Studying · 3:12am Dec 23rd, 2016

Here is a list of disciplines I am studying at the moment. I usually study a wide range of things for stories that I am writing.

The people at Google or the government people monitoring the internet over at the NSA must think I am nuts. Lol

But oh well.

The List:

Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy is a general term for treating mental health problems by talking with a psychiatrist, psychologist or other mental health provider.

Reiki: A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Massage: The rubbing and kneading of muscles and joints of the body with the hands, especially to relieve tension or pain.

Acupressure: Acupressure is a form of touch therapy that utilizes the principles of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. In acupressure, the same points on the body are used as in acupuncture, but are stimulated with finger pressure instead of with the insertion of needles.

Hot Stone Massage: Hot Stone Massage is a massage technique that uses heated stones to relax and massage sore muscles. The stones can be used for their heat alone, or as massage tools used in combination with essential oils used in aromatherapy.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body — most often by inserting thin needles through the skin. It is one of the practices used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Chiropractic: A system of complementary medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of misalignments of the joints, especially those of the spinal column, which are held to cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs.

Reflexology: Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion.

Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy uses plant materials and aromatic plant oils, including essential oils, and other aroma compounds for the purpose of altering one's mood, cognitive, psychological or physical well-being.

The Metamorphic Technique: Also called prenatal therapy, this is the manipulation of the feet, hands, and head to help people come to terms with long-term problems, perhaps stemming from the nine months spent in the womb.

The Bowen Technique: A system of subtle and precise mobilizations called "Bowen moves" over muscles, tendons, nerves and fascia. The moves are performed using the thumbs and fingers applying only gentle, non invasive pressure.

Hypnosis: The induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction. Its use in therapy, typically to recover suppressed memories or to allow modification of behavior by suggestion, has been revived but is still controversial.

Yoga: A Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation.

Meditation: A practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.

Hypnotherapy: The treatment of a variety of health conditions by hypnotism or by inducing prolonged sleep.

Crystal Healing: Crystal healing is an alternative medicine technique that employs crystals and other stones as conduits for natural healing energy.

Gestalt Therapy: Gestalt therapy is a humanistic therapy technique that focuses on gaining an awareness of emotions and behaviors in the present rather than in the past.

Dreamwork: Dreamwork differs from classical dream interpretation in that the aim is to explore the various images and emotions that a dream presents and evokes, while not attempting to come up with a single unique dream meaning. In this way the dream remains "alive" whereas if it has been assigned a specific meaning, it is "finished" (i.e., over and done with). Dreamworkers take the position that a dream may have a variety of meanings depending on the levels (e.g. subjective, objective) that are being explored.

Regression Therapy: Regression therapy is an approach to treatment that focuses on resolving significant past events believed to be interfering with a person's present mental and emotional wellness.

BioSpiritual Focusing: BioSpiritual Focusing deliberately nurtures a spirit based body wisdom which heals our inner disconnections, thereby balancing our dysfunctional lifestyles. It opens a new paradigm of human consciousness for exploration. The simplest things that touch our bodies each day, along with major issues like pain or joy can then reveal the wonder, the sacredness, and the gift of everything in life.

NIP - Non-Invasive Pain Therapy: A non-invasive procedure is a conservative treatment that does not require incision into the body or the removal of tissue. For the treatment of back pain, a combination of non-invasive procedures such as chiropractic manipulation, physical therapy, and heat therapy are typically prescribed for several weeks.

Channeled Meditation: Allowing the body to be a channel of communication by spiritual entities through the process of meditation.

Channeling: A person's body being taken over by a spirit for the purpose of communication.

Guided Meditation: A process by which one or more participants meditate in response to the guidance provided by a trained practitioner or teacher, either in person or via a written text, sound recording, video, or audiovisual media comprising music or verbal instruction, or a combination of both.

ASMR: Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, precipitating relaxation. It has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia.

Tai Chi: A Chinese exercise system that uses slow, smooth body movements to achieve a state of relaxation of both body and mind.

Qigong: An ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The word Qigong (Chi Kung) is made up of two Chinese words. Qi is pronounced chee and is usually translated to mean the life force or vital-energy that flows through all things in the universe.

Crystal Grids: A crystal grid is an arrangement of crystals on a specific geometric shape that focuses the Universal Life Force in a particular way for a particular purpose. The longer answer is: A crystal grid is a predefined set of multiple crystals arranged in a harmonic sacred relationship.

Mandalas: A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hindu, representing the universe. In common use, "mandala" has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.

Sandpainting: Sandpainting is the art of pouring colored sands, and powdered pigments from minerals or crystals, or pigments from other natural or synthetic sources onto a surface to make a fixed, or unfixed sand painting.

Talismans: A talisman is an object which is believed to contain certain magical properties which would provide good luck for the possessor or offer protection from a possible evil or harm.

Magic Circles: A magic circle is circle (or sphere, field) of space marked out by practitioners of many branches of ritual magic, which they generally believe will contain energy and form a sacred space, or will provide them a form of magical protection, or both. It may be marked physically, drawn in salt or chalk, for example, or merely visualised. Its spiritual significance is similar to that of mandala and yantra[citation needed] in some Eastern religions.

Sigils: An inscribed or painted symbol considered to have magical power.

Physical Manifestations: Calling down glory/ physical manifestation of the spiritual realm like gold, gems, and other physical items through power of meditation and prayer.

And a handy list of occult terms I'll probably be using for a vampire story I'm writing later: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_occult_terms

Seems somewhat intriguing. Though I can't say I'll probably find myself seeking them.

4351685 They are interesting subjects indeed. :) I am finding them interesting to research for some fantasy and other stories I am writing.

4351764 Oh yes. I have many more. :p

4351772 ...
I'm gonna need more sunglasses.

Reiki is the channelling of universal energy, and funnily enough although there is theoretically infinite universal energy Reiki healers have limits to the amount they can channel into someone else. It's also strange that the ability can only be passed down through attunement by a master who has been trained to attune. On top of all of that, reiki is only temporary, and doesn't heal for the long term. Strangely enough, it alters the health of someone for a time, their body heals while reiki has been used on them to feel as if they were healed. I wanted to do reiki some time ago, but since then I've given up on my ambition. I just wanted to be a better healer, but doing reiki won't really help me whatsoever. It will just make me an officially trained healer. Not that you'd care about such small ambitions, you've got a much longer road and a much bigger struggle to manage yourself. Maybe it's nice to take your mind off of it from time to time. I wish you good luck in your endeavors, I've received quite a bit of luck recently actually. I wish I could send it to you, but luck just seems to be attracted to me. A few days ago I had the pleasure of meeting a seven spotted red ladybug (a symbol of great luck), I've also collected 7 pennies made mostly from copper, and on top of that I crossed paths with a cricket (another very lucky animal) today.

Hope they all do you well.

4351887 I am actually being certified in Reiki. I've taken the course for level one and am working my way up levels two and three. The effects of Reiki more often then not permanent and you can use it to heal or fix just about anything. It's pretty cool.

Crystal healing is quite effective as well. Quigong and Tai Chi are also great healing methods. Massage, reflexology, acupuncture, the Bowen Technique, The Metamorphic Technique, Acupressure, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, yoga, and meditation are all techniques that help aid in the healing process. They are all definitely worth checking into. :)

I am happy to hear that things have been going whelk roar you. I hope that you will continue to find luck and inspiration with everything you do. Keep on being awesome.

4351896 I find them all to be interesting subjects, both in real life, and for the purpose of using the information for storytelling. :)

They are all definitely worth checking out if you ever have some spare time to watch videos on the subjects.

4352045 Thank you very much for the encouraging words, my friend.

4352095 lol Well then they are missing out. They are interesting topics to study indeed. :rainbowkiss:

4352178 You are very welcome, my friend. XD
