Random Ramblings CXII

IN WHICH I'M NO FAN OF THE HOLIDAYS
We're now officially four days out from Christmas. Normally, I have all my shopping done already. Unfortunately, this time I have no idea what to do.

This is going to be the most depressing Christmas I've ever had, I'm sorry to say. My longtime GF left me a couple months ago for myriad legit reasons (yet still calls me when she needs something and often wonders if she should just come back), my dad is ill and unable to eat (a problem as I always got him food), my mother -- finally enjoying the single life -- is doing okay and has planned a great spread for Sunday.

The one thing I want -- need at this point, really -- is a new laptop computer. I've been using this one for eight years, and it's honestly amazing I can do much of anything on it anymore since it's so out-of-date. But I'm terrified of spending money. I've heard there are people who know where to find refurbished Macbooks (that's what I use, they've been good so far, please don't hate me), but no one has returned my calls, so I guess I'll have to wait until after the holiday.

On the anime front, I've just been watching more Urusei Yatsura, because I love that show. It makes me happy at a time when I need something to distract me from the bleakness of the future.

I've started in earnest on my Pinkamena Diane Pie BONUS CHAPTER to Reconciliations, and thus far I'm liking how it's shaping up. It's only to the point where Ponk shows up -- I took the idea from a reader that she just appears in the room despite a locked door (how could I have missed that opportunity before?) -- but this time it starts out with a much longer lowkey narrative ramble. Y'know, the part of writing I'm actually good at. Pinkamena is one of my favourite characters, so I'm hoping I can come up with a narrative that can meet your expectations, as well as mine.
