How NOT To Make Virtual Reality MMOs · 7:16am Dec 19th, 2016

From what I took from this video:
1. Do not make dropdown menus within menus.
2. Do not exclude instancing (instancing is that certain areas are unique to each player. The choices you make there will belong to you and only you and upon visiting this area, a special copy of the area will be made by the game server for you where everything is exactly as you left it. Sometimes the game lets other players visit with you (typically if you are the party leader)).
2.1. By extension, do not make world bosses available to every player in the damn game. Have them be within unique instances.
2.2. Further more, last hitting the boss in order to get better reward that nobody else gets in that boss fight discourages cooperation.
3. Do not have useless filler stats (aka Sensibility lol fucking wut).
4. Do not make shitty dungeon levels that you can't escape out of.
5. Do not limit the variety of character classes to one, therefore limiting the pool of strategies to one if not few.
6. Do not make World PvP always on/default for players otherwise you'll end up with a Level 100 camping Level 10 players.
7. Do not make certain skills unique to one player and one player only.
8. Do not have stat leveling system be based on utilizing those stats (example: raising attack stat by attacking or raising HP by sustaining damage).
9. Do not equally distribute EXP among party members from the same amount of experience a solo player would get. Give players incentive to party up such as an extra boost to the EXP before distribution.

and a buncha other things.

Yeah. Basically don't be shit. I saw this a while back, it's fuckin' spot on. The day that Dark Souls gets an anime I can truly die happy.

Basicly don't be Eve Online... Except Eve is considered by many one of the greatest games ever made :D

Well... it is if you enjoy playing Google Spreadsheet Simulator.

4346146 True, just gotta remember there's 'undock' button there somewhere. Who knows what would happen if one is to press it?
