Makes me think of some unholy combination of the xenomorph from alien and the reaper leviathan from subnautica...
I'm gonna go hide under my covers now.
Ok I know what a xenomorph is, but I had to look up reaper leviathan from subnautica. Boy let me tell you, the colors threw me off, but it looks deadly nonetheless. Kind of like a mantis shrimp. It's color scheme leaves much to be desired, but it'll fuck you right up if your close enough.
You know I always imagined the maidens to be on four or so legs and two or more Claws. Kind of like a zero queen.
Huh.
Personally I imagined them more spider like.
And now to re-read the story with this in mind!
I'm reminded of a biped scorpion.
