    The Knife’s Edge

The other day I got a message from ZanarNaryon telling me they had created a TVTropes page for To Serve In Hell. Now, TVTropes can be a dangerous place to start reading, unless you have a few hours to spend getting lost in it. But if you want to check it out, please

Not with a bang, but a whimper

    Hey friends.

I didn’t used to believe in writer’s block as such. I always thought the phenomenon was a manifestation of something else in a person’s life. I also thought the cure for it was just to sit down and write any garbage you can. Editing should never mix with drafting, and if you can get yourself to stop editing, you’ll achieve more and better drafting—which can then be edited.

Ping 2: Live and In Person

Almost exactly 2.5 years ago, my family and I bought tickets to Whinny City Pony Con 2020. Of course there was no such con, at least not in a physical capacity. But good egg that he is, Charlie Worthley (con organizer extraordinaire) has made it effortless to transfer our tickets from that long-ago time to right now, despite all that’s transpired between.

    Ping

    I live.

    Time's gotten away from me.

2020 got weird. My 2021 started with an honest effort to get back to normal. But after I started getting treated for depression, I began to see more and more ways to improve things in my daily and family life that hadn't fit together very well in years. Including some of the core issues that had pointed me in the direction of MLP in the first place.

    Artistic Expression

It's been too long. Things are great. Really, really great. Not so much for writing, but for different modes of expression and life.

Ok I know I just threw a blog post out a couple minutes ago, but something else just came in that demands immediate sharing: cover art for the upcoming Time Enough For Wub!

Good night that's some gorgeous stuff, IMO. The artist is VanillaGhosties on DeviantArt, who is truly a gentleman and a scholar (or at least an artist worth following).

An initial draft of the fic itself took silver in the Writeoff a couple months ago. It's an homage of sorts to Horizon's Time Enough For Love, which was an epic Writeoff-winner that he still has yet to put on FimFiction. :trixieshiftleft: Wub is also a crackship played completely straight, in that it chronicles the budding romance between Vinyl Scratch and Star Swirl the Bearded... and yes, you read that correctly. She's a bit lonely, he's a bit time-displaced, and one thing leads to another. I think of it as a bit like The Terminator mixed with the chick flick genre, if that makes any sense.

I suppose the only bad news is that I'll need to find the time to start working on editing it now! :raritydespair: Honestly I didn't expect VanillaGhosties to get this done that quickly!

Okay, now you've got my attention. :trixieshiftright:

I love it when writers I enjoy tackle crackships. Seriously looking forward to this one.

:rainbowkiss: Perfectly adorable, given the story it will grace.

Trust me, it's cute.

that's the second most out of place ship I've ever heard of

The first being Rainbow X Bloomberg (The tree.)

The terminator mixed with the chick flic genre... hmm... So Terminator 3?
