I want to be a lion, everybody wants to pass as cats. We all want to be big big stars, but we got different reasons for that...

Just a little quickie update. Still writing semi-regularly, Merc and I have crested the 100k word mark on 1199.

    So, we're only half-way there.

Been a few months, ladies and gentlemen. Been doing hella writing, though, on account of co-writing a grand adventure/romance story with my very, very good friend Merc the Jerk. Collectively, he and I have written... oh... roundabout 45k words on the thing since January timeframe.

Writing chapter dos of Last Love. It’s... coming along. I mean, it’s like 6500 words long, so far, with a tentative projection of it being like 15k words long by the time I’m done with it. Cause apparently I write long as fuck chapters now.

    So it’s definitely “coming along”.

I wane and wax in my creativity and in my desire to write. But I write nevertheless. I've read some books lately, full of healthy tips and tricks and whatnot. One of the ones is "to get excited about the scene you're writing".

    Huh.

Have you guys ever heard of Limyaael's Fantasy Rants?

Well, if you haven't, now you have. I've been going through them lately, and the more I read the more something bothers me:

>Why isn't there more high fantasy in pony fiction?

I'm not talking about word building on the few small bits of fantastical concepts that the show has already given us. I'm talking about taking ponies and exploring their civilization from top to bottom, and making that civilization high fantasy as fuck, as in no trace of our stupid human ideals and concepts in it.

No civilization goes without change. How did things used to be at the beginning of pony culture?

Yanno, my theory for why the pony tribes hated each other regardless of the fact that they could clearly see that they were of the same basic race was because they had different languages. How can you truly unite when you cannot understand each other? So what was the language that the Sisters first set up when they united the races? Did the Sisters even unite the races, or was it the six that defeated the windigos? And if it was the six, what a story that would be! Just imagine writing a story about the struggles of something like that! I would read the fuck out of that!

And earth ponies! Shit, I decided to give my earth ponies an actual physical connection to the earth. To the point of feeling any agony that is caused to it. There's no evidence in the real show of anything like that, but maybe ponies don't do it anymore because, guess what, torching a pony's fields and killing them that way used to be a prime tactic of the pegasi and unicorns, back when the pony races hated each other. This was one of Limyaael's ideas for one of her cultures that I read and took off running with. And you're welcome to do the same.

There's so much that you can do with writing, man, that's the beauty of it. This is the reason why I grit my teeth in rage and then shake my head in disappointment whenever I see that another MacJack incest story has made it onto the front page.

This is the reason that I stopped writing. Cause the stuff that I bleed and worry and agonize over to make thoughtful and thought-provoking and emotionally touching was being passed up in favor of ponies being fucked in the butt by their siblings. Or whatever.

This fandom fucking kills me, man, but I am a slave to my love of ponies.

The thing is, the reason why said stories aren't being made as much is because it isn't the popular writing idea on FIMFiction. Right now, it's either Random, ridiculous oneshots, slice of lives, or straight up pony porn. It's sad, but it's what the audience wants. And people want popularity on here.

It's sad, cause I remember coming to the site back in '13, and being amazed that the fanfics were of such a ridiculously high quality that I felt threatened and intrigued at the same time. I mean I came from FF.net, which is probably why this was the case, but back then stories had to be interesting and well written and original in order to get famous. I miss those days.

Actually. Lenguage is what is stoping me from be more participative. Coments are one thing (They are short), and actually story with more than a thounsed words (not counting the mistakes I'm having right now). Require more knowledge than I have and time to practice.

What I mean is, I'm willing to try, I have been thinking in the particular costums each race have from their ancient times and how they were modificated, and yes, that include lenguage. But it's taking time and I doubt I would posted here.

yeah, writing 100k+ story with a convoluted plot and interesting characters where every chapter has something happening in it is super daunting. I usually give up at around the 20k mark. I also tend to just jump around from scene to scene so I shoot myself in the foot with it. I'm not built for long complicated stories.

But no one else will write them. At least not the stories I want to read. I want political intrigue, characters overcoming insurmountable odds not because they're Speshal but because they put in the grind and lose just as much as they win. I want them to be characters that grow noticeably and change the way they speak to others, the way they view the world or the conflict they're involved in or the ones that surround them. And not always for the better. The most interesting change is the one for the worst. I adore the Anakin Skywalker character arc for this reason alone.

I just... I don't know. I want so many things, and I don't know if they'll ever come to fruition, cause I'll have to do it myself and I know I'll loose steam.
