Review #9 - Celestia, Fires of the Sun, A Changeling's Test · 4:05pm Dec 5th, 2016

Today I have three stories for you, they are:

Celestia by Arad
Fires of the Sun by Protector of Light
A Changeling's Test by ShadowGear

Celestia by Arad
(Alternate Universe)
This is a sequel to Stardust
Everyone knows the story of Hearths Warming Eve. They know the tales of the three pony tribes and how their strife brought the Windigoes upon them, and how the Fires of Friendship saved them from their frozen fates. For countless generations the tale has been told, but how has it changed over those years? Or is any of it true in the first place? Only one pony knows, and Celestia would prefer that the past stay forgotten.

Review
A guard tells a child about an ancient queen named Solaria who lost her ability to harm ponies so she went into hiding in a resistance village as Sunny, while there she meets a filly named Lulu and they become friends. Starswirl brings her and Lulu to Canterlot to perform a spell but Lulu gets hurt and he has to save her. Solaria/ Sunny and Lulu then become Celestia and Luna.

This is a story that has amazingly epic pacing inside of it. The beginning is perfectly long, and all of the reveals come at the right time. It also doesn't rush the caringness of Sunny. It has surprisingly few errors in it for it's size. And it is remarkably planned out. Though I do believe it could use either a "Sad," or a "Tragedy" tag.

Score: 9/10 Recommendation: Highly Recommended.

Personal Thoughts: You do NOT need to read Stardust for this one. This story is truly a work of art, it is amazing in almost every detail, and I do believe you should go and read it right now!

Fires of the Sun by Protector of Light
(Alternate Universe, Sad)
A thousand years after Twilight Sparkle's death, Princess Luna tells her student about how she had to banish Princess Celestia to the sun.

Review
Luna tells her student about how she had to banish Celestia to the sun, her student uses the elements to save Celestia.

This is a short story, so it doesn't have much for pacing; what it does have, however, is fairly good. There are few errors in the text, which is always nice to see. It also, in it's shortness, feels mostly planned out. And it's tags most definitely fit it.

Score: 8/10 Recommendation: Worth Reading.

Personal Thoughts: Now you may be thinking that this might just be another "what if Luna won against Celestia instead of getting banished to the moon" story, it is now... it is set 1,000 years after Luna was turned good by the elements.

A Changeling's Test by ShadowGear
(Alternate Universe)
Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom helped the mane six earn their cutie marks, and helped give birth to Spike. However the mane six weren't the only ones who saw the sonic rainboom. In the changeling kingdom, a single changeling named Sclerite was struggling with his life. He then witnessed the event that would shape his life from that day forward.

Review
A changeling can't do magic very well, he sees the rainboom, he learns to do magic.

This one, in it's shortness, feels a little bit rushed, but at the same time drawn out. Though it does not have many errors in the text which helps it out a lot. It does not feel very planned out, however; instead, it feels mostly planned out. And it's tag is not quite accurate, but there isn't one that fits better.

Score: 7/10 Recommendation: Read it if you have time, otherwise don't.

Personal Thoughts: All I can say about this it that it's "different."
