    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH…
This is my hundredth blog post. By an astonishing coincidence, yesterday I also managed to hit one hundred watchers. I didn't plan things that way, but I sure love it when things converge like that. I would have posted as soon as it happened, but I wanted to finish my little gift, viewable after the jump. To all of you who have supported and encouraged me over the last 22⅓ months, Thank You! :raritystarry:

As promised, here's a couple of story snippets I felt like writing and sharing. They're not canon to any of my stories here, but they were fun to create. This first one is the post-script to "Exes Meet".

The next day, Rarity accosted Flash in the hallway, an unusually serious look on her face.

“What is it?” Flash asked, legitimately perplexed.

“I need to know,” she replied, pausing before continuing. “What was it that attracted you to Sunset back then?”

Flash stared dumbfounded at Rarity for a moment. Then he gave a half smile. “I wish I could say it was because we, like, found out we had things in common, got to talking, and whatever, but no. It was…” he trailed off.

“Was what?” Rarity asked.

“Have you looked at her??” Flash asked rhetorically. “Sunset’s one of the hottest girls in the city! When she came up to me and said she wanted to date, you better believe I said yes!”

“Well, I, uh, never really… thought about it like that,” Rarity stammered, unsure.

Flash totally ignored all semblance of decorum and proceeded to compliment the physical attributes of a girl in front of another girl. Since Rarity had no interest in Flash, he got to keep his junk.

“I mean, she has a pretty face and all. But she’s got a better ass. And that rack. Man, even a girl like you has to notice Sunset’s flippin’ stacked.”

Rarity blushed, a wave of emotions all washing over her at once. She briefly glanced down at her own chest – not small by any means (in fact slightly above average in size), but not nearly as substantial as Sunset’s. For the previous three years, Rarity had assumed Sunset wore padding; she only discovered upon getting to know her that they were, in fact, very real. Indeed, since quitting her role as CHS’s alpha-bitch, Sunset often wore compression bras to make herself look smaller. Though she tried not to admit it to herself, this annoyed Rarity. She comforted herself with the knowledge that her body was better suited to high fashion than Sunset’s – catwalk style and voluptuous figures don’t mix – never mind Sunset’s vocal disdain for the industry.

“You know, Flash… a girl doesn’t have to have big breasts to be pretty. Besides, I can think of at least five girls in this school larger in the chest than Sunset.”

“True. That yellow friend of yours is one of them. But Sunset, damn, she got everything a guy could want on a girl. And she knows how to use it.”

“I never figured you were this shallow, Flash,” Rarity said, distaste for the boy in front of her rising with each syllable.

Flash shrugged. “Well, that’s the way I saw things freshman year. Obviously I learned my lesson. It took a while, but she showed me her true colours. Then I learned the truth.”

Rarity grimaced at him as she asked very slowly, “What. Is. That. Truth?”

Flash shook his head. “All I’m gonna say is this: They say with age comes experience.”

This only annoyed Rarity more. “Why can’t you just tell me what you know??”

“If I did, it would get a lot more people than just her in big trouble,” Flash said with a sigh. “I don’t want that on my brain.”

Rarity pursed her lips in irritation. “Why won’t anyone tell me anything?!” she screamed.

“Because,” Principal Celestia said as she popped out from behind. “Flash wasn’t lying when he said a lot of people would be in trouble. Honestly, we’d rather he not have found out either, especially since all the men in his family are police. But it couldn’t be helped. Also, it turns out the author already revealed it in an earlier blogpost.”

This other one I wrote just now. I was thinking of the climactic battle from The Lion King. Then it got weird.

As another bolt of lightning arced across the sky like ephemeral snakes, Rarity and Sonata Dusk stood on either side of the rock ledge, breathing heavily, their clothes gaining more rips from their last attack. A warm acrid wind cut across the wasteland, animating their long hair – now significantly mussed – in a way that would make any Hollywood cinematographer cream his pants.

“You’re… a lot stronger than I thought,” Sonata said. “Who’d have thought the girl Trixie brought to tears by ripping her jacket could put up such a fight?”

“I appreciate the compliment,” Rarity said with a sneer. “I’ve learned that sometimes one needs to set aside personal comforts and fight for what is right.”

Sonata shook her head as she glared across the psychological abyss. “If you really cared about what’s right, you’d let me have a chance with her.”

“Absolutely not!” Rarity attempted to growl – something her voice is particularly ill-suited for. “Sunset doesn’t need another one of her tormentors around.”

“Really?” Sonata scoffed. “And who was it who got all up in everyone’s face about how people change, that the bad stuff they did should be forgiven? And you won’t give me the same chance? You’re a hypocrite! Just like the rest of the school! I bet Sunset wouldn’t like that one bit if she knew! She’ll tell you to take a hike, and then I’ll pick her up!”

“I’ll never let you have her!” Rarity spat.

Sonata’s expression somehow increased in smugness, coming close to Adagio level. “Oh? Everyone else was right. You are overprotective of her. I know it’s just because you want her all to yourself. Can’t blame you. I’d do the same thing.”

“No! I…I’m just trying to help her! I’m her friend!”

“Uh-huh,” said Sonata, clearly seeing through the bullshit. “Then tell me: How do you feel when she walks into a room? You get a tightness in your chest, right? Well…” Sonata glanced down at Rarity’s boobs – decent size but still smaller than Sonata, who was about on par with Sunset’s own substantial rack, “as much as you can.”

If looks could kill, Sonata would be quadruple-dead with an extra side of dead right now. However, Sonata ignored the death glare and moved in for the rhetorical kill.

“Whenever you’re around her, you feel warm, right? At peace? Happy. You want to sit and listen to everything she has to say. If she’s not with you, you feel empty. You can’t imagine life without her.”

Rarity puzzled for a moment. “Well, you’re not wrong,” she said.

Sonata shrugged. “That’s love. I know, it took me awhile to figure it out too. I never thought I liked girls. Maybe I don’t; maybe it’s just her. You probably feel the same way.”

Rarity nodded. “I don’t understand it myself. I like boys. I… used to fantasize only about boys. Until her. But only her.” She slowly began to assume an attack stance again. “You know, in a more just world, we could use our similar dilemma to bond and become the best of friends. I’d love nothing more, Sonata.”

Sonata smiled as genuinely as she could (not much) before assuming her own stance. “Shame we both fell for the same girl, isn’t it? Well, let’s end this.”

“Yes. Let’s,” Rarity agreed.

Another lightning strike and resultant thunderclap sent the two girls barreling at each other, claws at the ready, both screaming some variant of “Sunset is MINE!”, though whether they were trying to convince the other or themselves can never be known.

Before they could clash, a machete landed between them, breaking their concentration. They both turned to see who interrupted their glorious battle.

“This fight is over,” said a female voice, its originator mostly in silhouette. Another lightning strike lighting up the area for a too-brief second highlighted only the girl’s flowing red hair.

Rarity and Sonata looked at the newcomer, confused as hell, as she continued. “Sorry, but I’m the one the author is pairing up with Sunset.”

“Really? You??” Rarity said with an incredulous hearty laugh. “How could she ever go for a girl like you?”

“We bond over misery, just like y’all did, Rarity,” the girl said.

“How do you know this?” Sonata asked the figure.

“I saw the outline,” the girl replied. “It’s already planned. Sunset dumps both y’all like a sack of potatoes while I get my chance!”

“I can’t believe that,” Sonata said. “The Author isn’t insane. He wants people to read his work, not get himself in trouble for violating that rule. I bet what happens is you get a crush on her and she rejects you!”

Rarity nodded in agreement. “Mm-hmm. Far more likely she ends up with one of us.”

“Actually, if what I know about the author is any indication,” said Flash Sentry, appearing in between Rarity and the mystery girl, “Sunset won’t end up with any of you.”

“What?!” all three girls cried.

“Let me explain,” said Flash. “The author’s love life is nearly nonexistent at this point, and he’s never liked writing shipfics to begin with. He believes all his characters deserve to be as miserable as he is, even with a technically happy ending.”

“That…that can’t be true!” whined the mysterious girl.

“Fraid so, honey,” Sonata said with surprising tenderness. “Face it, we’re all just pawns in the hands of a madman who likes seeing us suffer.”

“Oh like YOU all have any room to talk,” groused Sunset Shimmer. “At least he didn’t make any of you an anxious suicidal wreck!”

I'd love to share more, but this post is long enough already. I hope you enjoyed my silly bullshit writing and that you'll continue to enjoy my somewhat less bullshit public writing. Bye for now!

Congrats on the hundred watchers and blogs. Love the depressed Sunset series, though now I'm curious in which blogpost you revealed what Flash meant when he said "with experience comes age" (especially since now there's a hundred of them). On a side note, Flash dating Sunset because she's hot and asked him out is probably the best explanation I've heard to why he started dating her.

Tha's some good stuff there.

The overwhelming majority of that first clip could be bolted-on to Exes Meet as a second chapter that would fit great and would, IMO, strengthen its conclusion. Celestia's line would have to be different, but otherwise you've got gold there.

The second clip is OTT ridiculous. I like OTT ridiculous. Let's see some more OTT ridiculous!!

Congrats on the followers and keep up the good work:twilightsmile:

4325645 - Thank you very much! :yay:

4325546 - If I told you that in this universe, Sunset unintentionally put herself in the middle of a conspiracy that, if revealed, could land her and up to XCV% of the CHS faculty in jail, would you think I'm crazy?

I've actually alluded to Sunset's secret in nearly every story I write about her. It's subtle, but it's there. I have a fic outlined where she explains everything. I'm really excited about writing it, but it's going to take some character development on the part of the person she'll open up to before I can make it happen.

And yeah, as far as I'm concerned, Flash's decision to date Sunset was 100% him thinking with the "wrong head", so to speak.

4325596 - In my .docx, it IS tacked onto the end of "Exes". I cut it because (1)One-shot means one-shot, and (2)Following up a serious story about hurt and forgiveness with an epilogue where Flash waxes nostalgic about Sunset's breasts is too much mood whiplash even for me. And yes, I was tempted to have him go into more detail… but I think Rarity's brain would have short-circuited.

I'm glad you like my OTT ridiculous second thing. It was fun. I shat it out in one 15min go because I felt like it. It's my first attempt at "shipping" (lies!).

Congrats for the milestone...
