As it says on the tin, I need help. I moved from New Jersey back to Colorado after a year and a half of living on the east coast. I haven't been here a week yet, already I'm in trouble. I hit a rock with my car, the rear differential and gas tank have both been punctured, and the labor cost alone is at least $1,400, that's not even finding the parts, towing the car because leaking gas is a bad thing to have near your house, and storing the car in a safe place until I have the money to get it fixed. All in all, I project it will cost me nearly $4,000. I'm not in the business of asking for hand outs or for help, but with less than $600 dollars to my name and a job that pays only $10.00 an hour, my hands are effectively tied. I have a means of getting to and from work, but it isn't reliable, and I don't trust it will make a good long term solution. I know, you're probably saying 'Why not buy a new car?'. Well, the price of cars around here is very expensive, and every car that is within my price range would cost too much to insure. On top of that, this car happens to be my dream car, and I've had it less than a year. It isn't something fancy like a Camaro or a Bently, it's an old Police Cruiser. When I was a kid I always wanted to be a Private Investigator, and getting this car was a boyhood dream come true... I'm not sure I'm quite willing to part with that dream yet. In the long run, it's still cheaper to get the repair than to buy a new car.
That is why I'm coming to you... Our community is something I know that will give a hand when it's needed. Even a couple dollars will help me get closer to my goal. I feel rotten for coming to you like this, hat in hand, but I have no where else to turn to.
