VHS Opening: My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas (2005, Paramount) · 11:57pm Nov 16th, 2016

I bet we all cannot contain our excitement when I tell you that amidst all the attempts to defraud those who wanted to see the opening to this tape, someone has actually allowed them to do so. I put my usual dismissal of the "point the camera at the TV" style of doing these aside because of this. Or maybe I shouldn't have due to my thought that the tape might have been encoded with Macrovision thus preventing me from copying it to DVD and doing the rest himself (i.e. transferring from DVD to video file and uploading the opening portion to YT).

Tape opens with a preview for the next G3 direct-to-DVD sequel The Princess Promenade, followed by a promo for the animated version of the Weebles (fellow Hasbro property) and promos for video installments of Dora the Explorer and Blue's Room (spin-off of original Blue's Clues program) and promos for the various Peanuts specials on VHS/DVD (Paramount and creator Charles Schulz crafted their own subsidiary for these, Peanuts Home Video). Then it has the Paramount FP bumper/warning screen and then its logo.

My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas is a direct-to-DVD animated film produced by SD Entertainment, and released on October 25, 2005 by Paramount Home Entertainment. It marks the first film appearance of the titular toy franchise since their big-screen debut in 1986. The DVD includes a bonus episode Dancing in the Clouds which is first released on video bundled with Star Catcher in 2004.

A Very Minty Christmas was made available on hubworld.com (a successor of Hasbro's MonkeyBarTV website), alongside the aforementioned followup and My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow. They were later removed from the site.

The popularity of Friendship Is Magic has increased demand for reissues of the original My Little Pony titles. Shout! Factory has now begun to produce DVD reissues of some of these titles, including A Very Minty Christmas. (the OP however feels that they should've been left at Paramount where they belonged.)

The film made its television debut on Discovery Family on December 13, 2014.
