Freeville Chronicles: A ruin in the forest

There are a lot of reasons why Freeville Chronicles failed, some of them in-universe and some of them connected to real life events, but the most pronounced in-universe reason is probably the impossibility of its beginning. Some very simple and basic considerations inevitably lead to the conclusion that Freeville and its inhabitants and characters are impossible. They cannot exist for a

What were my plans for Freeville Chronicles?

As I mentioned in my last blog post, Taking a Step Back from Fall of Equestria, I had the rest of Freeville Chronicles as well as a rough concept for a sequel mostly planned out. Since I'm likely not going to finish it, but I think it was an interesting concept and possibly would have

Taking A Step Back From Fall of Equestria - pt. 1: Announcement

This decision has been a long time coming, but due to recent events, I have an announcement to make. I am taking a step back from my involvement in Fall of Equestria for an unknown period of time. I’m still in the process of determining what exactly that means, and whether it will be permanent or just temporary, and I already have the help of some of my good friends in the fandom in figuring it

Musings: How to read and understand prophecy and vision in a fantasy story

“Three crowns had the First King of the stags. One for the sun, a crown of baleful gold. One for the moon, a crown of mournful silver. And one for the earth, a crown of fateful bronze. Three crowns shall the Last King have, too.”

Outline of the caribou invasion of the Redux

As promised, here is the outline and time frame of what the caribou invasion would have looked like in the Redux invasion story. Before we provide our own outline and timeline we had planned, I would like to give a quick rundown of non_creepy_nickname’s original timeline, so the problems of it become apparent. This will show how we solved most of them, and also the few issues we weren’t able to

Musings: The Third Stallion · 12:21pm Nov 12th, 2016

During the last months, Schorl and I have been discussing a bold new theory regarding one specific aspect of Fall of Equestria, and I believe we are at the point now where we can present our idea. It aims at a reinterpretation of one specific FoE character, but at its root, it is a theory about different “types” of males in Dainn’s Equestria, regarding their mating strategies - but in a world where mares are both property and economic assets, this also relates to their social status, and to how they make a living. It should be noted that this is not about Corrupted vs. Unaffected. For the purpose of this essay, we can disregard unaffected stallions like Big Mac or Braeburn completely, and focus only on males who are in line with the regime (whether out of their own will like Orestes or Kaboose, or due to the mind control).

To begin with, I would like to link an image first. It has a bit of text as well, and I would like you to read it first.

(Source)

This image symbolically depicts three different, biologically distinct types of males of a certain species of lizard (Side-blotched Lizards). Of course, we don’t have these biological differences among stallions or caribou males, but they correspond to three different mating strategies, and I want to present the hypothesis that these exact three mating strategies can also be found in Dainn’s Equestria. But in order to test this hypothesis, we need to find examples for all three.

I think examples for the first two types - “blue throats” and “orange throats” - are pretty straightforward. Most stallions, especially in the lower social strata, will be like “blue throats”. They have one or two females, and they cling to them - not out of love, of course, but rather out of practicality. Examples can be found particularly in Schorl Tourmaline’s stories, and among them are most of the inhabitants of Ponyville. On the other hand, the caribou and stallions in the higher echelons of society can be described as “orange throats”. They have tons of females around them.

But can we find an example for a “yellow throat”? That seems quite a bit more difficult at first glance. Subsequently, we have to analyze the different characteristics that would constitute a “yellow throat” male.

(1) A “yellow throat” male will most likely stick around one or more powerful "orange throat" males and act effeminate, possibly to the point where he gives himself to them willingly. As a result, he'll earn benefits and privileges he otherwise might not have, and possibly also a certain fame. Of course, these "yellow throat" males play into the fact that most caribou are bisexual, and this explicitly doesn’t rule out at least some of the higher-ranking caribou, including council members - possibly even the king himself, although NCN denies that. So these kinds of "yellow throat" males might be highly appreciated by them. It potentially brings the “yellow throats” themselves status, wealth, and access to more "other" females than they would have if they lived the life of a "blue throat". Maybe it even brings them a certain degree of power that they wouldn't have otherwise - and the only thing they have to do for it is to act effeminate and let a caribou or a rich stallion fuck them in the ass now and then. Hell, they might actually like that. It is likely that many of these “yellow throats” are bisexual themselves. Which leads us to the next point.

(2) Just like in case of the lizards, at least some of these stallions are likely to "mask" as females. So they'll go nude in public, and possibly even wear a collar if allowed, especially if they think it might please their "master". They might act submissive like slaves and might even start to present as female. Once again, they will also have little problems with allowing their benefactors to have their way with them.

However, they are of course still male in the eyes of the caribou, and will still have all the rights of a male. They will have freedom of movement without being questioned. They will be allowed to own money. They will have free time, to spend as they like, without supervision.

It is likely that non_creepy_nickname would strictly deny this. There aren’t supposed to be any characters like that in FoE.

Of course, I already have a specific character from FoE in mind here. It should be noted that this interpretation of said character is most definitely not intended by the character’s creator, and they would probably deny it vehemently. But it is a valid interpretation of the character, and one that I believe (and hopefully will be able to show) lines up better with the facts that are presented to us in the stories than the “official version”. But let’s look at the third and fourth characteristic. They should make it obvious who I’m talking about.

(3) So these “yellow throat” males walk around, posing as females. However, since they’re still biologically male, it is highly likely that even stallions who are obviously affected by the Crystal Heart will treat them with far more respect than females, even red collar ones. For example, they'll address them by their full name instead of their pet name (or even just some slur), they’ll talk to them like a normal person instead of just barking orders, they’ll make business deals with them and let them make decisions on their own, and so on. The "yellow throat" might even occasionally remind them with an eye-wink that he is really female and needs to be treated like that. Of course there will be some mockery here and there, but it's usually only verbal, since the “yellow throat” is even more protected by his "master" than other males are by law. As a matter of fact, if the mind-controlled stallions act like that toward her, it’s almost definite proof, since they’re supposed to be psychologically incapable of treating a female with this kind of respect. So, if any "female" character in FoE is treated like that by males on a regular basis, there is a good chance she's really a "yellow throat" who only narrates "her" own story as though she was a female.

At this point, the great majority of readers should have a fairly good idea who I’m talking about. Of course, there is still the mating aspect - and this is the fourth and last characteristic of a “yellow throat”.

(4) “Yellow throat” males are likely to have a large circle of “friends” who are female, most of them slaves of their benefactor. But aside from that, they will also probably get their "masters" to give them a job that constantly puts them in close proximity to "other" females, or even gives them a certain power over them - like the job of evaluating mares and finding potential candidates for the red collar, for example.

...

...but, that couldn’t be, could it? Sunrise Splendor is a stallion? Isn’t that… at least a bit far-fetched?

To be fair, that was also my reaction when Schorl initially gave me that idea - and as I said, this clearly isn’t Twipet’s intention, and it’s fairly likely that they’ll dismiss it outright once they learn about this theory. However, over time, I saw more and more evidence for this interpretation, and I think a case can be made for it. As a matter of fact, I believe that some of the things we got to see in Twipet’s stories so far add up better with this new interpretation than with the “official” version. It’s not as obvious in Sun’s Setting, although there are some hints of this as well - but I think it’s striking in A Change of Events. So let’s look into it.

In the first chapter, we see Sunny precisely acting and being treated like a “yellow throat” would be, as I described in (3). Shop owners address her with a great deal of respect (at least in comparison), and she has to point out to them that she’s just a lowly female. (As said above, when it comes to the mind-controlled stallions, that’s almost a giveaway that something is fishy.) She is allowed to move freely, without a male accompanying her, without stallions immediately having their way with her. She is allowed to own her own money, and to dispose of it however she wishes. She has free time, and is allowed to dispose of it however she wishes. And so on.

Then, in the second chapter, Vestri dumps her. What happens after he dumps her? One would expect that she’d be back to being fair game for public abuse for any stallion who wants her, probably kept in breeding stocks or on a dirt farm like Rarity. But that’s not at all what happens. Instead, she inexplicably finds herself in an ordinary office job.

Why? Because with Vestri dumping her, Sunny now has to work for a living - just like any other lower middle class stallion. Forget the alleged sexualization of her workplace. We only get Sunny’s version of the story, and this is either part of her delusion or simply a lie. Not even the caribou can be that dumb. Not to mention letting mares work in an important field like logistics simply goes against the caribou’s mindset completely. The same is true for the task she was doing for Vestri, arguably even more so. There is no way the caribou would give the task of evaluating whether mares are red collar material or not to a lowly female.

As I see it, the most likely conclusion from all of this is that Sunny isn’t a female.

Of course, in order for this to work, you have to assume that Sunny is either deluded or lying about a few things. Most obviously, almost all sex scenes in Twipet's Sunny stories fall into this category. But when it comes to the social interactions in both stories, I think my theory explains them better than the "official" version.

I think this makes a lot of sense, and plays fairly well into how my own character thunder works, he uses magic to make himself be female, while secretly keeping magic, but even as a stallion he can be effimite, but he isn't trans, so what would happen to him, if you don't mind my asking? I think he might be asked to turn into a whore sometimes but as a male, even if others know he turns from one to another and back, would they treat him the same when he is male?

Oh hey Thunder. I figured you'd like the idea. :pinkiehappy: As for your question: Ask me again on Discord. Maybe there, we can find a way to structure your question in a way that I can understand it. :trollestia:

This essay makes no goddamn sense, and it also reads uncomfortably TERFy. There's a lot I didn't know back then that I know today, but also, I have no idea what I was smoking when I wrote this. I'm tempted to take it down. But I'll leave it up for now as a testimony of my own past stupidity.
