Man Cannot Keep It Going Forever

There comes a time in a story's life when it's time to stop and say "The End", and I think for Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone, I'm there.

Spoilers ahead, obviously, for Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone. And before you think it: no, I'm not quitting or leaving, lol

    30,000 words later...

    I did it!

It's done. The Festival of Friendship Arc for Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone is done! I'm so happy to have it finally complete. It was a massive undertaking in the best and worst sort of way. It took me a bit of work to shake the rust off, and Chapter 9c might get a touch-up, but for now, with Chapter 9d complete and feeling back to full form, I'm happy to say that it's done.

Yeah, I KNOW what I said!

Title says it all. Yes, I still don't know if I'm going to finish this beast. This arc gives me headaches for many reasons. But... well, when the inspiration strikes, sometimes you just gotta run with it.

Yeah, I know what I said.

The author's note in the chapter says it all, but hell with it.

Update and Cleaning Up my Userpage!

Hey Fimfic, long time no see. Hope you all are well!

Rarity pic, in keeping with tradition!

I'm doing quite good. I'm a full-time teacher these days, and that eats up a lot of my time. Between that, editing work, a healthy long-distance relationship, and D&D, I'm quite busy.

Grace. That is my watchword for tomorrow. I will be among students and peers. There will be some that will be uncertain, or angry, or afraid. Demonstrate grace. Start small. Let them see and understand and, hopefully, learn. Small steps. Make my community stronger by affecting the lowest denominator, those that are rejected from the norm to learn on the fringe.

The world is such a big, big place, and my place in it is a very, very small one. But teaching matters, and demonstrating grace in the face of defeat may be the most important lesson I teach in the coming days.

Negative. Panic.

I like when leftists are honest and out themselves. You guys put in a lot of effort being insufferable enough to provoke such a strong refutation.

Anyway I'll take my petty vengeance where I can get it. Like a shopping list in reverse. Scratch one.

4291934 I am a teacher. My students are going to look to me for cues on how to react to the situation. That is the nature of my job and position. I do not believe in undue political influence or telling them how to feel. I will be choosing to act with grace and kindness because it is better than the hurt and anger and fear I really feel. Because I feel those things, but they are at-risk kids who live every day like that. For them, school can be an escape to normality. I will not be something that damages that perception or feeling. Hopefully, they will choose to act as I do in moments of loss, rather than lashing out.

That is all.

4291934 I don't understand the last portion of your comment. Are you angry at me for some reason, and therefore indicating that you're going to exact some kind of vengeance? Damn am I confused, simply because I don't get why you would be hostile to me, so I feel like I am misunderstanding you.

Jesus I misinterpreted this completely. When you said "demonstrate" among students and peers I figured it was insinuating Black Lives Matter style freeway blockage alongside other university students or rock and egg throwing at foot and vehicle traffic and police. Which is what I've come to expect from the left given its frequency of occurrence leading up to the election--their verbiage and actions have been two separate things. That you're trying to remain professional and mitigate political influence on your students is admirable. Complete assumption and misreading on my part.

The second part alluded to unfollowing you after assuming the first part--an error, I realize now. That you're hurt or angry is fine, I guess. The fear though I think is unfounded. What's actually going to happen is law and order, but that's just my opinion. It will eventually play out that we dodged a bullet, and it's already starting to: https://www.rt.com/news/365966-putin-trump-congratulates-victory/

4292511 Hey, thanks! We may disagree, but we can still be cool to each other. Thanks for communicating with me effectively!

You're most welcome--it didn't sit right with me at all that I'd caused you to interpret I was threatening you. In the future I'll try to just be more plainspoken.
