Beyond a Single Year · 9:28pm Nov 8th, 2016
I had initially planned on making a brief post that reflected on the difference between where I was July 16, 2015 to July 16, 2016 with the intention to see just how far I've come in accomplishing the things I set out to do that year prior.
No one will probably read this, and that's okay as I'll still make a post regardless doing what I should have done some time ago. I've left the fandom and during my time outside of it quite a bit of important things have happened. Since the moment I disembarked on my own path to now, I've written three drafts of what is supposed to be my novel. It's been educational, writing a book. The practice of working on my own is far different than posting chapters piece by piece online for the world to see. (Albeit a small portion of the world.)
You don't get feedback unless you post your early work or openly hand it out to people you know in real life. This also allows you to leave scenes you're not sure about to stew in the pot of your mind for some time before being altered to better benefit the work as a whole. That, and since you're not writing for an awaiting audience, there's less incentive to write/edit everything right down to a polished point once a chapter is done. Though there is certainly nothing stopping one from doing so. Despite not having an audience to write for at the moment, I write 4 pages 5 days a week at the minimum (if possible) while working in tandem with my current schedule. Even when I try to keep a consistent schedule, life tends to be a wild maniac that often jumps at you when least expected, and I keep that in mind every week while trying to write.
As it stands now, my book isn't anywhere near ready for any sort of publishing or even brief viewings from outside eyes. It's rough, and everywhere -- yet isn't that how books are supposed to be while working on them? I like to think so.
I never got around to getting Brotherhood printed, though it is one of the many things upon my list of activities to get done sometime or later. I have gone through certain scenes of the story's earlier chapters to edit them, and where a large portion of those young writings of mine look rough you'll sometimes come across a sleekly constructed paragraph that no one with my skill at the time could have formulated.
Honestly, things are going well. The third draft is coming along, and the fourth is bound to be started sometime at the beginning of 2017. There's a few select days when I miss writing Brotherhood, but that book has been closed for awhile now.
I've also noticed that after two weeks comments/notifications get deleted. I understand why this particular system is in place, but it's bad news for me. Sometimes people will favorite a story, or in a few rare instances, leave a comment. During the long gaps of time between working on my book, and when I visit this website, should there have been a comment it's been lost to time. Unfortunate, yes, but there's little I can do.
I just thought I'd write this blog to reflect a bit at how the year has treated me, and how my projects are coming along. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Hey, glad to hear things are going well for you and I'm pretty happy to hear you've got a novel in the works that sounds like its coming along well. I certainly enjoyed Brotherhood, so it'd be cool to see what kind of novel you've got cooking. Time certainly flies by, doesn't it? Anyway, best of luck man.

Going pretty well. Still plugging away at my own fanfictions, and also working on a novel, though I'm still trying to get the first draft finished, myself.
