Gen 1 Review: Season 1, Episode 1 · 1:56am Nov 8th, 2016

Well then. I now know that Gen-1 is pretty much just little girls' fantasies and marketing acts balled up into a mildly cringy 10-minute episode.

Also, Twilight Finds Herself in Gen. 1 is pretty much my 20,000 view gift to y'all. Stay awesome.

Thank you for writing the story. It's looking fun.. Also, I'm not subjecting myself to watching G1. Well, might check out certain interesting villain's appearances, but that's it.

4289814 I'll be publishing chapters based on a per-episode schedule. 1 gen 1 episode = 1 chapter.

4289816 Ooh, that sounds like a recipe for frequent updates. I like.:pinkiehappy:

The special regarding Midnight Castle was actually fairly terrifying.

4289915 And since I'm doing chapters by episode, you'll eventually see it in the fic!

Oh joy, trauma in thirty minutes or less!
I can't wait.

How many little girls do you know that fantasize about being enslaved or killed? G1 was quite dark on multiple occasions, and often focused on adventure stories, in contrast to G4's preference for slice-of-life. G4 would do well to revisit more of the G1 plots and characters, now that they have money to spend on animation.

4289920 By the way, the episodes are not in chronological order. Midnight Castle is the first part of the story.

4290970 Really?

Well, I'm just going by episode... so... yeah.

I can't just replace chapter 1 with a whole new chapter 1, since I've already tied everything down.

4290983 I think Midnight Castle and "The Movie" are the only ones out of order, but I'm not certain. It might make things easier for you later if you check MC out earlier rather than later.

4290988 Oops. :twilightsheepish: I've kinda already gotten on a roll though, so I'll pretty much have to scrap the entire story and start over...

4290997 You could have somebody mention it as a flashback and not ever actually go to that episode, perhaps? That's the one with most of the connections to G4.

Okay, I looked at the list, and I have a chronological order for you:
Midnight Castle (Parts 1 and 2)
Escape from Catrina (Parts 1 and 2)
The Movie
The End of Flutter Valley (Parts 1 through 8)
Then the remainder is in episode order

Flutter Valley is a direct sequel to the movie, so they make a lot of assumptions about you knowing who all the characters are. Unfortunately, that means that you missed the introductions for the Williams family, the Seaponies, the Flutterponies, the witches, and the bushwoolies.

4291025 Well then. I wrote the first chapter based on the last arc.

4291000 I'd have to do flashbacks on every single chapter.

4291029 I think, just for the sake of the readers, I'll probably just go in episode order, since I said several times in various places that each chapter is going to be tied directly to the specific episode number.

4291029 Which means that it'll just go in episode order, not chronological, unfortunately. (I guess I'll add an Alternate Universe tag.)

4291031 Perhaps Twilight will develop a time travel spell, but still need to work some of the kinks out of it? That could solve the problem pretty cleanly.

4291036 I do have a plan for her to kinda go "mad scientist" mode, which I gave away by the cover art. Originally it was going to be some sort of rapid-evolution spell to allow for a quick transition into Gen. 2 for the sequel, but I can build on that to include sending the timeline into utter chaos.
