Comic Review - Friends Forever #33 · 1:40pm Nov 7th, 2016
I skimmed this one, Cherry Jubilee does nothing for me. I barely remember her, I just know she exists. In general I'm getting tired of the pony comics in general and to be honest, I may stick to simple reviews from now on rather than full recaps.
So, a travelling show comes by run by Calamity Mane and Buffaloo Bull, subtle. Cherry Jubilee hates them for reasons she doesn't say, and after some pointless diversions Applejack finds the reason - she was the original Calamity Mane. Bull proposed to her, but Cherry wasn't sure about committing herself to the show and turned him down. She was stranded in Appleloosa and made a life for herself here. She goes to have it out with Bull but they reconcile and she performs in her show.
Not much to say on this one. Applejack pays lip service to her stubborn streak and how it affected her the first time she came to Appleloosa, but otherwise meh. This isn't doesn't focus much on the character interactions, it's an issue all about Cherry Jubilee seen through Applejack's eyes. You could replace her with most any other of the Mane Six to get the same story and only have to change the dialogue in some places. The highlight was a poster of Twilight in the library that says "READ" and when Applejack wonders what Twilight would do, she hears the librarian announce the library is opening and mutters that's a sign for sure.
Dodge Junction, not Appleloosa. And I respectfully disagree with your entire jaded opinion of this issue. This is actually one of the better Friends Forever comics and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
4288970 I wouldn't say I was jaded. Cherry just does nothing for me as a character, and as always, I feel Friends Forever should focus on examining the relationships between the characters. This issue instead focused on backstory and character for Cherry and Applejack was mostly just there.
