Why There Haven't Been Any Updates · 2:12am Nov 4th, 2016
In remarkable irony, my English 110 class has killed any motivation and desire to not only just write, but to also read anything. I haven't touched any of my recently purchased books and I've also stopped reading some fanfics I was in the middle of on this site. It's incredible how much this class has sucked away my passion for reading. Thank god there's only about a month and a half left. Honestly, the teacher should rename the class from English 110 to Colonialism or Racism 110. The only literary analysis skills I'm developing is how to spot a sexist and racist metaphor or passage from a mile away. Never mind the fact that these days we spend the majority of the class talking about current political issues about colonialism rather than literature. And the reading... Dear god. There are so many fanfics that are better than what we are reading.
"There were no words to describe the emotions he felt. Anger, fear, guilt."
Those are words! And simple ones at that!
Sorry it seems that you are yet another victim of an SJW professor.

Pfffff. Whoever wrote that line was a writer and they were talking about feelings. In addition to that line being in a piece that was chosen to be in an English class's curriculum, You're lucky if you get through a paragraph without hitting an obscure reference to some "famous" story that was known only to a few highly educated widely read people (AKA rich people with way too much time on their hands) at the time it was published.
If you can't tell, I really dislike the post-modern Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra style writing that many English professors seem to think is the highest form of art. (And this is coming from a person who strives to make his sentences include references to pop-culture, but still make sense via context clues to the vast majority of the population that doesn't share his exact literary and cultural background. Instead of making it so vague that even when people know exactly what I'm referencing, they still have to sit and puzzle for a few minutes to see if I meant what it sounded like I meant on the 7th read-through, or if I was actually being sarcastic the entire time, making none of those previous read-throughs matter.)
But I'm not bitter. What ever would make you think that?
God I hated my English classes.
I think going and reading a good action story (or, for that matter, writing one, because you are actually awesome enough to do that ) to clean the filth off your palette can help. It's what I always did when I couldn't stomach any more of that. That might make me sound like a low-brow plebeian, but I read to have fun or to be educated, not to play "Metaphorical Trivial Jeopardy Scene It: greatest literary hits according to some guy from a hundred years ago".
It's like some English professors choose pieces for their class with the intent to make every non-English major hate reading.

This is the best description I've heard and I'm totally stealing it. Crazy episode. And you're pretty spot on with your descriptions.
Oh stop it, you. But yeah, you're probably right. Should find a good novel and maybe attempt writing one. I've been reading Human Edge by Gordon Dickson. Hilarious book that has multiple stories showing how Humans, through a variety of ways, have the edge over alien species. It's pretty much a collection of "Humanity Fuck Yeah" stories.
I might have to read that. Sounds like something I would enjoy.
You poor thing. Take whatever time you need to recover from this mind-numbing ordeal. Long term and even short term exposure to sjw garbage is unhealthy and will unhinge anyone. Your story no matter how amazing can wait till you recover.
4287123 Thankfully only about a month left. Still, I've been making people wait too long for the next update. I really need to start working on it just to get the flow going again.
