The Twelve Signs

Unlike western astrology which goes by the month of the year, Chinese astrology goes by the year you were born. It also determines your sign's element by your date of birth. In some branches of Chinese astrology, the element of metal is sometimes referred to as gold. The two terms are interchangeable.

Astrological Charts

Your sign will be closer to your personality if you get an astrology chart drawn up for you. Astrology charts basically map out everything about your personality from the day you are born and also add in your sun and Moon signs. Some people are closer to their moon sign or sun sign, so it gives them their unique personality traits. I've had an astrology chart drawn up for me before. It was crazy accurate.

Astrology itself borrows a lot from numerology and astrological charts are typically drawn up based on the position of planets, stars, and other celestial bodies on a specific date (and even down to a specific time).

This is why astrological charts for people (or birth/ natal charts) are always more accurate than just the basic sign. They take into account the specific day and time of birth.
