NaPoWriMo Is Upon Us · 7:20pm Nov 2nd, 2016
After the problems with my previously published story, and an irritating annual bout of SAD that always kicks in this time of year, I'm semi-recovered and back in the groove on my latest story, just in time for NaPoWriMo. Working title of "Lightbearers".
I've set myself a total goal of 150,000 words of notes on this story before starting on the first actual draft (obviously the final size will vary depending on the needs of the story, but should end up somewhere around that count, give or take). Going into the month I have slightly over 50,000 words written; so my target is to put down another 100,000. Can I do that in a month? Absolutely not, not even if I quit my regular job and write full-time (which I would love to do, but bills and all). But I'll be quite happy if I manage to add even 20,000 to 30,000 over the course of the next four weeks.
I may or may not work on smaller, one-shot stuff in the meantime, possibly some sort of short vignette or character study, as the mood takes me. Not sure, though. I'd like to publish something at the end of the month, but I'm not going to sacrifice working on the novel that's burning its way through my brain right now. Might very well be my magnum opus. More likely to be utter shite. We'll see.
Now if only I could get help from a good editor for my almost-finished, unpublished story that's sitting idle in the pipeline. Stupid real life getting in the way of my fun.
